Julie K. Brown is my hero, a dedicated journalist.
Revisado: 03-20-25
Don't pass over this true crime book because of the prurient nature of Epstein's crimes. Miami Herald reporter Julie K. Brown would not let go of this shameful and heartless criminal conspiracy. We learn that the Florida justice symptom is certainly a sunny place for shady people. We hear from Julie herself at the start of the book, thankfully, Julia Whelan takes over the narrative with a clear professional voice. A single mom dedicated to her craft and her children, I don't know how Ms. Brown did it, but I'm grateful she did! The book is fascinating.

Revisado: 12-27-22
Some of the details of Nazi atrocities are disturbing but that’s a small part of the narrative. Two young victims’ stories are well-documented through the war and afterwards. Israeli operatives find the Butcher in South America. Narrator is top of the line!

Historia
On September 20, 1998, a Cuban-born former Red Army lieutenant named Jose Vigoa launched a series of raids on the Las Vegas Strip. During a 16-month spree, Vigoa robbed five world-class hotels, three armored cars, and one department store. The casinos hit were the MGM; the Desert Inn; the New York, New York; the Mandalay Bay; and the Bellagio. Lieutenant John Alamshaw, a 23-year-old veteran in charge of robbery detectives, was ordered to stop the robberies at all costs. He knew he was up against a mastermind. What he didn't know was that he was running out of time.

Fascinating , listened to entire book
Revisado: 10-20-22
In four days. First of all, Stefan Rudnicki is one of Audible’s top five reader/actors: clear, deep voice, no mispronunciation s, and neutral tone. Most of the book’s setting is in U. S.,, recognizable places. Main characters
Is a shrink’s dream, he has a moral code of his own making, not one all would approve. It’s great “True Crime”.

Historia
These are the stories that defy conventional logic. The proverbial vanished without a trace incidences, which happen a lot more (and a lot closer to your backyard) than almost anyone thinks. These are the missing whose situations are the hardest on loved ones left behind. The cases that are an embarrassment for park superintendents, rangers, and law enforcement charged with Search & Rescue.

Fascinating plus a great reader!
Revisado: 08-14-22
This is not a sci-fi/conspiracy book. It is non-fiction.
I had no idea so many Americans recreate in our national parks and national forests.
Do people enter the park or forest to disappear, commit suicide or start a new life somewhere else? Our government does not keep a record of people who go missing on federal property. Searches are organized and then ended after so many days.
The reader has a perfect voice for this book.

Best Yet of Inspector Rutledge's Cases
Revisado: 09-10-21
*First of all, don't be put off by a new narrator, Simon Vance is 5 star, also.
* The authors are slowly moving Rutledge out his PTSD, or so it seems to me.
* I stopped reading to Google the the history of the aqueduct, very interesting.
* Well-developed characters
* Don't start with this book, start at the first one.
I lost the plot at times, I listen at bedtime and sometimes miss things, it's so easy to go back with the Audible app.

When Notes on a Silencing hit bookstores in the summer of 2020, even amidst a global pandemic, it sent shockwaves through the country. Not only did this intimate investigative memoir usher in a media storm of coverage, but it also prompted the elite St. Paul's School to issue a formal apology to the author, Lacy Crawford, for its handling of her report of sexual assault by two fellow students nearly 30 years ago.

Speaking truth to power, this book is important.
Revisado: 11-27-20
...Couldn't stop listening.( I haven't listened/read a book straight through since The Thorn Birds).
I usually shy away from books read by the author, Ms. Crawford did an excellent job.
I'm Ms. Crawford's parents age. 'Our age' has no idea of the sexual behaviors nowadays of teenagers, especially those who are away from the discipline and oversight that a child has living at home. Crawford is brave to tell her story, also, too, it's the story of the arrogance of men's athletic coaches and students.

In the tradition of Into the Wild comes an instant classic of outdoor literature, a riveting work of uncommon depth. I’m planning on doing four days in the jungle.... It should be difficult to get lost forever: These were the haunting last words legendary adventurer Roman Dial received from his son, before the 27-year old disappeared into the jungles of Costa Rica. This is Dial's intensely gripping and deeply moving account of his two-year quest to unravel the mystery of his son's fate.

Revisado: 05-15-20
Mr. Dial’s description of nature from Alaska to Borneo to Central America was so detailed, like a nature hike with a guide. One must hold on to their emotions, it can be tough. It was worth it, I made it through with some laughter and some tears. A loving homage to nature, family, friends and especially the author’s son, Roman.
