Historia
Half-hidden by forest and overshadowed by threatening peaks, Le Sommet has always been a sinister place. Long plagued by troubling rumors, the former abandoned sanatorium has since been renovated into a five-star minimalist hotel. An imposing, isolated getaway spot high up in the Swiss Alps is the last place Elin Warner wants to be. But Elin's taken time off from her job as a detective, so when her estranged brother, Isaac, and his fiancée, Laure, invite her to celebrate their engagement at the hotel, Elin really has no reason not to accept.

Actual pure boredom
Revisado: 04-21-23
And I kept waiting for this book to grab my attention. After six hours and I realized that it was simply not going to happen. And that the book is actually just boring. The printed copy may make for a good read, but the audiobook just seems to drone on.

Historia
Since the days of conquistador Hernán Cortés, rumors have circulated about a lost city of immense wealth hidden somewhere in the Honduran interior, called the White City or the Lost City of the Monkey God. Indigenous tribes speak of ancestors who fled there to escape the Spanish invaders, and they warn that anyone who enters this sacred city will fall ill and die.

While intellectually interesting, the book is just plain boring.
Revisado: 10-10-20
The book kind of drones on. The author is obviously very knowledgeable about the many early cultures of the Americans but after a while it just seems to blur gather. It may have a fantastic ending ending, but I actually wouldn’t know. By the time I got to chapter 20, about seven hours in, I was so bored that I just decided to move on. They were about three hours left in the book that I did not listen to. Should be fair that may have been the best part of the book but I’ll never know.

Not a new book
Revisado: 08-14-19
This book popped up on Audible as a 2019 book. It’s not it was originally published in 1997. As long as you know that then it’s a fairly entertaining book. If you’ve been keeping up with the Dirk Pitt series alot of the things that you know now are kind of confusing until you realize that this book was written in the past.

Great story line
Revisado: 01-19-18
This was a really good book. I think the author is found a place in my regular rotation, up there with the Daniel Silva‘s of the world. My only complaint was with the narrator. As long as he was doing the story it was fine. But when he decided to do the characters’ he sounded like they were always drunk Or had just been hit in the head too hard.

Great storyline
Revisado: 09-20-17
Great storyline, great performance the Primos was a little far-fetched as was a few of the actions of our protagonist.but I tend to gauge a book is a great book if I look for reasons to get back in the car to listen to it. That's the way this one was. I think you'll enjoy it.

Revisado: 09-12-17
The last few Stuart Wood books it seemed like we're just phoned in. I'm not sure if it's the addition of Parnell Hall but the book is enjoyable again.m. If you had become disillusioned by the far-fetched personas and plot lines, I would encourage you to take another listen. This is an engaging and fun book in which to listen.

Not the same Oregon Files we've grown to love
Revisado: 08-23-17
First off, my most glaring complaint has to do with the narrator. To say it was awful would be a complement. His attempt at differentiating characters came off more like everyone was drunk. It's a pretty good storyline, but there are some weird consistencies based on prior novels. For instance they keep referring to him as Mr. Cabrillo not the Chairman or Juan. I think the authors just found this one in.

Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Revisado: 06-17-17
This is a great novel open till the end. Character development plot lines subplots are all very well done. The only thing lacking was a A finish to match the rest of the story. Still, it makes for a great summer time read.

Too technical
Revisado: 06-01-17
The story was very well written. Great plot lines and supplies, but the author goes into tremendous debt referencing technical jargon. To the point of being a distraction from the actual story.
