Revisado: 10-05-24
This was my first Kristin Hannah novel but it won't be my last. Her descriptions put you there without overdoing it; I didn't get lost in detail. I feel like I really got a feeling for life in Alaska. And Her story was so compelling I couldn't stop listening. Also love Julia Whelan as a reader.

Historia
In this intimate, haunting, literary memoir read by the author, an American icon tells her story for the first time, in her own gorgeous words - about a challenging and lonely childhood, the craft that helped her find her voice, and a powerful emotional legacy that shaped her journey as a daughter and a mother.

This book will help you gain clarity
Revisado: 03-10-24
By the end of this book, I had an epiphany that the most essential building blocks to success for anyone are 1) high quality sleep and 2) reflection. These are at the heart of absolutely everything else.
Without good, healthy sleep (for which Marisa provides a blueprint to identify and pursue) there's little chance of maintaining health of body and mind, which makes the rest moot, at least if you want to sustain any kind of performance for the long term.
Without the willingness and ability to reflect, we have no ability to improve, change or help others. And reflection doesn't always come easy. It requires space and time we don't always allow ourselves, and it requires us to remove distraction. Marisa offers a practical approach for this too.
Not to say these are the only things I got out of this book. Marisa provides hundreds of examples from her serious business experience at Capital One -- as well as the many CEOs she interviewed -- to help the reader use the many optimization tools she offers. She also shares deeply personal stories that so many will relate to. For me, these were the most powerful parts of the book and made what could have seemed like a professional development text book read more like an engaging story.
Also, Marisa is a pleasure to listen to.

Historia
In December 2000, the Baltimore Sun ran a small piece about Wes Moore, a local student who had just received a Rhodes Scholarship. The same paper also ran a series of articles about four young men who had allegedly killed a police officer in a spectacularly botched armed robbery. The police were still hunting for two of the suspects who had gone on the lam, a pair of brothers. One was named Wes Moore.

Historia
Heather McGhee’s specialty is the American economy—and the mystery of why it so often fails the American public. From the financial crisis of 2008 to rising student debt to collapsing public infrastructure, she found a root problem: racism in our politics and policymaking. But not just in the most obvious indignities for people of color. Racism has costs for white people, too. It is the common denominator of our most vexing public problems, the core dysfunction of our democracy and constitutive of the spiritual and moral crises that grip us all.

We are in the process of implementing the EOS system. I'm really excited about it. However, it's only been a month, so the jury is out on the true impact it will have. I am optimistic!
