Historia
Being a fugitive in the Old West shouldn’t be this much fun. The year is 1860. Robby Riverton is a rising star on the New York stage. But he witnesses a murder by a famous crime boss and is forced to go on the run - all the way to Santa Fe. When he still can't seem to ditch his pursuers, he disguises himself as a mail-order bride he meets on the wagon train. Caught between gangsters who want to kill him and the crazy, uncouth family of his "intended", Robby's only ally is a lazy sheriff who sees exactly who Robby is.

More historic fiction than steamy romance
Revisado: 11-13-19
I was expecting a story where the romance was the main focus (like most Eli Easton books) but the historical fiction side of things really was the main point of the story. I thought it was an interesting concept and I did enjoy the book, but for me the romance was a little bit of a let down. It didn't feel as developed as some of the author's previous couples, and in that way it felt a little tacked on. Honestly you could have just taken the relationship out of it and the story wouldn't be much different. Despite that, and the really terrible book cover, I enjoyed this read.

Slow story, terrible male narrator
Revisado: 10-30-19
Quite disappointed as Lisa is one of my favourite writers but I found this book lacked an interesting story and didn't have much action. The husband character was 2 dimensional and similar to some other 'husband figures' in her previous books who are unquestioning loyal and about as interesting as a cardboard box. Rain is supposedly in love with him and he's 'the good one' of the love interests -- but why? The relationship is never explored other than at surface level compared to her relationship with her childhood friend.
The male narrator has to be the worst I have listened to on Audible. He sounded like he was reading a bus schedule, and didn't seem to know the difference between acting and voice acting. Such a shame. The only thing that kept me going was the female narrator who obviously knew what she was doing.

Historia
When Geo signs up for Family Camp, he envisions nature hikes, s’mores, and a chance to win over his recalcitrant new foster kids, Jayden and Lucy. He’s tried to become a dad for so long, and he hopes the three of them can be the family he’s always wanted. What he doesn’t anticipate is the prickly and gorgeous camp counselor who constantly comes to his rescue. Travis spends a week every year at Camp Evermore, the camp his adoptive parents own. He has one rule: Never, ever mess around with anyone at camp.

Delivers what's promised
Revisado: 09-11-19
Eli definitely delivers what she's promised with this book full of 'family feels' set in a mildly cheesy family camp. The four main characters are drawn very authentically, including the kids (you can tell that the author is a mother herself). I really liked the relationship between Geo and Travis and, given the setting and situation of the characters, the way they attempt to navigate obstacles is handled well and realistically right up until the end.

I've never heard a better male narrator do female voices. A great story as usual from this author. I recommend you don't listen to it at work!

Didn't Disappoint
Revisado: 09-18-15
If you could sum up The Lion and the Crow in three words, what would they be?
Intelligent, Sexy, Engaging
What other book might you compare The Lion and the Crow to and why?
I haven't read anything like this in the romance genre before!
Which character – as performed by Scott Richard Ehredt – was your favorite?
I liked William the best. I thought Christian acted a little foolish at times.
Any additional comments?
I've been a fan of the author for 20 years but haven't read any of her romance books. This didn't disappoint. She brings intelligence and good writing to the m/m romance genre. The historical setting feels authentic. It was hard to 'put down', I almost read it in one setting but had to sleep! It'll take me a while to get the scene at the river out of my head ;) Looking forward to reading some of her other titles. My only criticism is that I think it should have ended when they go to the castle in Scotland, but mostly because I like happy endings and would like to picture them living 'happily ever after'.

Meh
Revisado: 08-23-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Use of first person and third person narrative in the book .... what the hell? Choose a point of view and stick to it.
What was most disappointing about Lisa Unger’s story?
Story not as engaging as some of Unger's other books.
What aspect of Ann Marie Lee’s performance would you have changed?
The performance was fine.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Die for You?
Remove the story line of the sister, or at least make it relevant somehow to the main plot.
Any additional comments?
It felt very much like a Franken-book - two stories meshed together that didn't really have any business being in the same book, particularly with the constant switching between first person and third person. This really bugged me. The story line with the sister is completely irrelevant to the major plot line. I also found I didn't care much about the protagonist as she continues to make one stupid move after another. I didn't buy that she could be so blindly fixed upon finding someone who has screwed her over so badly and is obviously a dangerous man involved with dangerous people. I'm a fan of Lisa Unger, but the story just didn't interest me as much as her earlier books have.

Not bad
Revisado: 05-17-15
I really liked the narrator, some male performers can't do female characters well but this narrator didn't bother me for once. I really love the movie of this book so perhaps I am biased, but I enjoyed the story. I felt Quoyle was a very relatable character with all his insecurities and uncertainties about life.

Historia
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-12-15
I thought the concept for this book was really interesting and the first few chapters set the story up well. Unfortunate the book then descends into big slabs of conversation about things that could happen and things that might happen. Basically people sitting around talking so that the author can somehow insert his research into the book. It became very boring, so many missed opportunities to actually explore those scenarios. Here is a great example of how the author needs to 'show don't tell'. The references to movies throughout also irked me, the author would describe a scene and then compare it to a movie scene. Completely unnecessary. There were about 10 instances of this and the author should have just trusted that the readers would understand what he was trying to convey through his description alone which most of the time was sufficient. The movie references were unnecessary and tiresome. I also thought the climax scene could have been much more exciting, but lost of it takes place in a passive voice and skipping over the action. Only thing that kept me going was the narrators great performance, but I feel someone else could do a better job with this very intriguing concept.

Got this as a freebie on Valentine's Day. Wish it was a little longer and included some more of my favourite poems. I would have liked a little more space between each poem too as it seemed a little rushed.

Another enjoyable Lisa Unger book
Revisado: 02-15-15
This book shares a similar style to Unger's Ridley Jones books. It was slightly confusing at times with the non-linear narrative, I think this wouldn't have been the case if it was in print. I did feel the 'is she, isn't she' part at the end went on a little too long. The relationship with her daughter seemed very authentic. Overall entertaining read. I don't know why Bolinda didn't edit the narrator a little better, they are usually very good, could hear a lot of background noise in the pauses which kind of broke the fourth wall for me if you get what I mean. I would recommend the book as light entertainment, Unger's writing has improved since Beautiful Lies and A Sliver of Truth.
