Historia
In Argus, North Dakota, a collection of people revolve around a fraught wedding. Gary Geist, a terrified young man set to inherit two farms, is desperate to marry Kismet Poe, an impulsive, lapsed Goth who can't read her future but seems to resolve his. Hugo, a gentle red-haired, home-schooled giant, is also in love with Kismet. He’s determined to steal her and is eager to be a home wrecker. Kismet's mother, Crystal, hauls sugar beets for Gary's family, and on her nightly runs, tunes into the darkness of late-night radio, sees visions of guardian angels.

Good not great
Revisado: 03-14-25
A lot of time spent setting up characters then weaving the story through them. Some things left hanging, eg FBI character. Wanted more closure with main characters…felt somewhat that the author was done writing.

Good story
Revisado: 06-22-24
Could have used more time context . The story seemed to take place over a period of about 1-2 months…a lot of feelings, relationships and situations needed to be develop more, especially if in that short period.

Historia
Award-winning historian and best-selling author Paul L. Maier has created a compelling style of documentary fiction. He uses what is historically known of Pilate's life, adds in the known political climate of first-century Judea, and unveils the colorful, untold story that changed history. Filling in the details of Pilate's early career in Rome, Maier captures the drama of imperial Rome under Tiberius Caesar, the plotting of his political allies and enemies, and his relationship with his beloved but ambitious wife, Procula.

Good story needing with more context
Revisado: 06-13-24
Liked the story but found that relatable context was missing to legitimatize the story and characters.

Enjoyed the book
Revisado: 10-23-23
Wish the ending had more depth…seemed to tidy up all the big character plots too quickly and neatly. Otherwise a good book. Enjoyed it.

A little bit goes a long way
Revisado: 05-20-23
Writing did hold attention for all the long descriptive relationship moments … would have appreciated more interaction.
Is the ‘performance’ score for the narrative? If so good job there.
