Well-meaning people have trained our dream right out of us. Who have been the naysayers in your life? You may have had many, but the worst critic can be the one in our own head. You may doubt yourself, thinking, “I’m not good enough” or “As soon as I…, then I’ll start on my dream.” No! Enough is enough. It’s time. Your time. If you are serious about what you want to achieve—then this book is for you. If you want a simple, proven strategy—then this book is for you. If you enjoy doses of inspiration along the way—then this book is for you.

Darren does it again
Revisado: 08-28-22
I’ve been fortunate to learn speaking and marketing lessons from Darren over the years. Instead of providing a typical goal-setting cookie-cutter approach, Darren gives a very practical method to moving forward with your goals, and includes real world testimonials with additional content on the website. Must read!

The examples alone are worth the read/listen. But the learning in how to get from difficult to relate facts to useful stories will certainly make my job/life easier.

Historia
In this must-listen book for anyone striving to succeed, pioneering psychologist Angela Duckworth shows parents, educators, students, and businesspeople - both seasoned and new - that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a focused persistence called "grit". Why do some people succeed and others fail? Sharing new insights from her landmark research on grit, MacArthur "genius" Angela Duckworth explains why talent is hardly a guarantor of success.

Well told and fascinating information
Revisado: 12-14-19
Angela does an incredible job with what could be a less interesting topic. She also has a great voice and was very easy to listen to. The pdf was a good addition to help in a few places.
What I found most important was not just understanding grit and how to measure it, but what can be done to improve it. I also felt the references to deliberate practice vs flow were thought provoking and insightful.

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Once again...MG is awesome
Revisado: 09-23-19
Amazing. I’d like to go out on a limb here and agree with Oprah. This is a must read (or listen, in this case).
Malcolm has an incredible talent to weave stories about how our default to truth and misreading the transparency of others can lead to misunderstandings (and sometimes worse as in the aforementioned stories).
I dropped what I was going to read this, and I’m glad I did.

Historia
Acuff knows the reason why many writers' novels go unfinished - it's the same reason why gyms are filled in the first week of January and empty by the end of the month and why people stop learning a new language once they get past the easy parts. It's not just that people lose momentum or get distracted. People give up on projects when they fail to live up to their own high expectations and decide that if they can't do something perfectly, they won't do it at all. If you're going to finish, you have to kill perfectionism.

Best advice I've heard on goals!
Revisado: 06-18-18
listening to Jon Acuff describe how to not only structure goal but also accomplish it has been awe-inspiring and eye-opening. I decided to listen to this book just as a Time waster, but it evolved as I listen to it because I'm currently going back to school to obtain my degree, trying to grow my own personal business, and lose a little weight and shape up.
I personally recommend this book to anyone who has trouble with goals. and I'm not just talking about crazy long-term goals like going to school. I recommend this to people who also need to mold their worldview, because it's also given advice on how to shape your ideas and how to better understand how the world Works in relation to also accomplishing your own goals.
this book may not give you strong motivation to go headlong into accomplishing a goal, but that's not it's in 10 early on, it mentions how many people who start goals with strong fire in their hearts wind up failing pretty soon because of things like perfection, fears of failure, and even fears of success in some instances. give it a listen; I don't think you'll be disappointed.

There is a competitive advantage out there, arguably more powerful than any other. Is it superior strategy? Faster innovation? Smarter employees? No, New York Times best-selling author, Patrick Lencioni, argues that the seminal difference between successful companies and mediocre ones has little to do with what they know and how smart they are and more to do with how healthy they are.
