Historia
Everyone knows that regular exercise and weight training lead to physical strength. But how do we strengthen ourselves mentally for the truly tough times? And what should we do when we face these challenges? Or as psychotherapist Amy Morin asks, what should we avoid when we encounter adversity? Through her years counseling others and her own experiences navigating personal loss, Morin realized it is often the habits we cannot break that are holding us back from true success and happiness.

If educators’ realities are filtered through the belief that they can do very little to influence student achievement, then it is likely these beliefs will manifest in their practice. The solution? Collective efficacy (CE) - the belief that, through collective actions, educators can influence student outcomes and increase achievement.

Hard to process as an audio book
Revisado: 08-15-21
Definitely great concepts in improving teaching for leaders. Book is a bit technical or re icing research and in my opinion is not a great audio and probably would be better on a Kindle or real book. wish had more "stories" to explain reserve and concepts.

Great Read !
Revisado: 07-27-21
Great to listen to and get an idea of Michelle Obama's life journey as well as life as a family in the white house. Felt book was a little longer than needed as some sections, while it was great writing, was too descriptive. Overall, Great story and nice to hear Michelle narrate herself.

Great Basics to a Long Lasting Marriage
Revisado: 05-26-21
Excellent to strengthen or regain bonds in marriage. A lot to take in as an audio,, but it intrigued me enough to now buy a hard copy of the book. Yes, lots of lists, but great for those who like to have something clear to reference through later.

Classroom management is traditionally a matter of encouraging good behavior and discouraging bad by doling out rewards and punishments. In Better Than Carrots or Sticks, longtime educators and best-selling authors Dominique Smith, Douglas Fisher, and Nancy Frey provide a practical blueprint for creating a cooperative and respectful classroom climate in which students and teachers work through behavioral issues together.

Historia
Author David Brooks explores the four commitments that define a life of meaning and purpose: to a spouse and family, to a vocation, to a philosophy or faith, and to a community. Our personal fulfillment depends on how well we choose and execute these commitments. Brooks looks at a range of people who have lived joyous, committed lives, and who have embraced the necessity and beauty of dependence. He gathers their wisdom on how to choose a partner, how to pick a vocation, how to live out a philosophy, and how we can begin to integrate our commitments into one overriding purpose.

Lots of Good Insights
Revisado: 09-18-20
This book helps one think about life and perhaps a journey to a path of what the author refers to a "second mountain ". Lots of good insights, but book is very long and some sections I struggled to understand how it connected to a journey to a second mountain. Worth the read if you've got the stamina to get through the length.

Historia
Nunez, a mountaineer, stumbles across a valley in Ecuador inhabited entirely by people struck blind by a disease. Narrator Excellent for this Story
Revisado: 07-17-20
I needed a quick way to read this story to fulfill a requirement and noticed it's published several times with different narrators. Using the sample to listen to the narrator, this one seemed the best. He did a great job of narrating to keep interest and wasn't a boring or robot voice.
