Historia
Joel Salatin is perhaps the nation's best known farmer, whose environmentally friendly, sustainable Polyface Farms has been featured in Food, Inc. and Time magazine. Now, in his first audiobook written for a faith audience, Salatin offers a deeply personal argument for earth stewardship and calls for fellow Christians to join him in looking to the Bible for a foodscape in line with spiritual truth.

I loved it. wow.
Revisado: 10-11-22
I started with his other books. I read everything about farming I can. I left the city in 2020 as a single mom with a teen to live off grid and farm. I'm crazy but it's the best thing I've ever done. As a woman with no experience in farming, I am a sponge. I don't have the strength or construction skills many men do so I have to compensate with knowledge. I have to learn and learn fast.
This book I thought was about raising pigs! It wasn't but it was what I needed to hear. I have found myself experiencing certain joy and love even when everything is not going as I planned out here. I feel a connection to earth, people and I think God that I'd lost many years ago. This book really helped me put things in perspective and connect this new found connection I experience to a spiritual experience. I gave up on God and the church a long time ago. I found my congregation not full of Gods love. I didn't see God in the city or in my life so I turned my back. I have been rediscovering God in a new and meaningful way directly through my land, nature and farming in general. I wasn't seeking God. I didn't leave Las Vegas to find spirituality. It found me somehow. The more I grow and do right by my land, the more I can't deny there is a God. He shows me in every fruit, birth and sunrise. I keep getting rewarded with feelings of joy and hope when before I lived in fear. This book was exactly what I needed to hear. Many have told me I'm crazy for doing what I'm doing. I just feel right about it. This book really helped me feel even more right. I'm not just growing the best and most healthy food. I'm restoring soil health. I'm healing our bodies and the land. I'm honoring my land and animals. In doing so, I honor God, and I can feel he is pleased. Never in my life have I felt I pleased God until now.

Historia
In The Plant Hunter, Dr. Quave weaves together science, botany, and memoir to tell us the extraordinary story of her own journey. Traveling by canoe, ATV, mule, airboat, and on foot, she has conducted field research in the flooded forests of the remote Amazon, the murky swamps of southern Florida, the rolling hills of central Italy, isolated mountaintops in Albania and Kosovo, and volcanic isles arising out of the Mediterranean - all in search of natural compounds, long-known to traditional healers, that could help save us all from the looming crisis of untreatable superbugs.

Well written, educational and inspiring. Not the usual dry ethnobotany writing I'm accustomed to. I love her story. This woman is an inspiration to all women.
