Historia
In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

Too many characters and noise distractions
Revisado: 09-26-24
The story has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, the choice to deliver this as if it was an audio play makes it very distracting. At times you can’t hear some of the actors because of the loud noises in the background. They talk over each other a lot, and there are very few anchors or exposition to ground you on what’s happening in the story.
Instead, audio, such as footsteps or doors opening and closing or bag shuffling are used in lieu of the narrator describing the actions of the characters, but Sometimes you don’t understand what type of actions the sounds are supposed to be conveying. This makes it very confusing.
The ending, where we are supposed to get the payoff, is unfortunately the most confusing part of the entire book. Because of the lack of exposition, you just have the characters talking to one another, so I am actually not sure what happens at the end of the book.

Historia
Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to coexist peacefully as equals, without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. But the peace has also made humanity complacent.

I thought I’d read before. I thought I’d lived before. I’d thought I’d loved before. But reading this trilogy showed me how much of a fledgling I was. I now see the world anew and am forever changed.

An Elder Millennial’s Review
Revisado: 02-13-23
I will be recommending this book to all of my female friends and my two daughters. Even if you don’t, 100% agree with the advice, I think it’s better to have this perspective so that you can make informed decisions on your own.
I am an elder millennial so, I grew up in the era that Suzanne refers to— Post feminism. I won’t say that I 100% regret the choices that I’ve made in life because they have led me to where I am, and I’m in a very comfortable place. But I can see how this advice would have made my path - and the path of many other women – a little easier to get to.
If taken to heart, this book can give young women a roadmap to the life they want to live, instead of having them fumble through their early adulthood. I know this advice would’ve made my life a whole lot easier. Even though there are some things that I disagree with, there is much more common ground than not.

Great Information
Revisado: 02-12-23
The information seems very sound and I can’t wait to try this is my own life. I’ve been fasting for 6 months and my weight loss progress has slowed down so I can’t wait to put the principles to the test.
The music that randomly plays at certain intervals is such a distraction. Not sure who or why they made that decision. Otherwise, this book would be perfect. However the music won’t stop me from recommending the book because the information is useful.

Historia
Suddenly finding herself 40 and single, Lori Gottlieb said the unthinkable in her March 2008 article in The Atlantic: Maybe she, and single women everywhere, needed to stop chasing the elusive Prince Charming and instead go for Mr. Good Enough. Looking at her friends' happy marriages to good enough guys who happen to be excellent husbands and fathers, Gottlieb declared it time to reevaluate what we really need in a partner. By looking at everything from culture to biology, in Marry Him, Gottlieb frankly explores the dilemma that so many women today seem to face.

Historia
God sees everything...but who’s watching him? The time period in which these events took place is not disclosed. Five very talented and ambitious scientists asked themselves an age-old question: Where do our souls go after we die? The question was posed, not in the esoteric sense, but in a geographical one. They committed themselves to find out the exact physical locations of “Heaven and Hell”. However, their research gave them more than they bargained for.

Conflicted
Revisado: 01-21-22
I read this book because it’s allegedly going to be adapted to a tv show and the premise intrigued me. I’ve never been so torn over a book before. Usually a book is terrible OR it’s good. This book is both.
The first third was exposition heavy. VERY little action but the nerd in me was stimulated enough to see where it was going. The dialogue is ridiculously stiff and unrealistic at times.
The VO artist seems just above amateur but just below professional. His timing and delivery are off throughout. One minute, he’s reading from a first person pov then the story jumps to a different character in third person but he doesn’t PAUSE at all, to allow you to adjust. In the book these would probably be page breaks but he plows through as if they are one sentence. I was confused a lot because of this.
Overall, it’s a Christian book posing as sci-fi. A group of Christian “scientists” are trying to prove where Heaven is. It makes a LOT of leaps in logic and the characters just blurt out “facts” without doing the work to get there.
But I did finish it and thought the ending was cute. You can tell the author put a lot of time and research into the subjects and the plot points have a fair amount of depth so I can give respect where respect is due. If adapted to tv, I could see myself watching if they took out the overt religious bias.

Slow Start...
Revisado: 06-06-21
Unlike the previous trilogy of Chronos books, this book is slow to start. I would say the action ramps up halfway through the book. It also has a mild sex scene and references to sex so not quite YA like the other books.

Beware
Revisado: 04-04-20
Day 1 is a huge sets up. It makes you feel like you can do this and it’ll be easy. No ma’am. This is NOT for beginners. Day 2 hit and almost killed me. I refused to do the top speeds and inclines the instructor called out. “Jogging” at 4.5 mph and a 3 incline on day 2?
I’m going to stick with the program and push as hard as I can but I’m confident I’ll never be at the pace the instructor sets. At this pace I’ll probably be able to do day 2’s full set of instructions on day 30.

Where Do I Begin...?
Revisado: 01-08-20
There’s so much to say about this wonderful book that I don’t know where to start. I guess from the beginning?
I stupidly stumbled upon it browsing Audible. SO glad I click on it and read the reviews. If you’re like me, you’re reading the seemingly too-good-to-be-true reviews, as well. Believe them! I couldn’t put this book down and I HATE non-fiction books. I literally do not remember the last one I’ve finished! Lol (Fantasy or short Youtube videos fan here).
I’ve been on a journey to weight loss and wellness for many years and never have I come across ONE source that addresses both, let alone as thoroughly as this book. We start with a palatable foundation for the recommendations the book will ultimately make and then end with a step-by-step approach on how to implement them and then get a bonus section dedicated to mindfulness to reduce cortisol (stress).
Now here’s the part that really impressed me. All of the challenges you think you’ll face on the journey are ADDRESSED! Headaches are my major fear when starting this type of diet and he gave all the solutions I would need to put my fears to rest. I could go on and on about this book (and I probably will to all my friends) but bottom line: buy it, listen, and see for yourself. You literally have nothing to lose because audible will refund your money or credit if you don’t finish a book up to a certain point!
Oh, and last but certainly not least, the narrator was probably 75% of the reason I finished, as well. This guy is a jewel. It is a very difficult skill to read non fiction with story telling emphasis and he has definitely mastered it. Bravo!
Ok y’all, bye now! Going to start implementing these recommendations TODAY! Wish me luck :)
