Historia
What happens when we reach the top? There’s only one place to go.Cory Richards has scaled the world’s highest peaks and fallen to life’s lowest lows. An acclaimed mountain climber, photographer, and filmmaker, Cory has literally reached the top of the world. He climbed Mount Everest with no supplemental oxygen, became the first American to summit an 8,000-meter mountain, and narrowly survived an avalanche, after which he skyrocketed to fame when his photos graced the cover of National Geographic. And yet, after all that success, Cory felt like an emotional wreck. As his mental health ...

The Climb Out of Pain
Revisado: 05-03-25
The interview with Cory Richards was less like a conversation between strangers than it was an intimate chat between friends. Cory's emotional vulnerability had me pulling off the road to sit with him and myself. So much of what he shared resonated with me especially his mental health journey. I think anyone who listens to him speak will feel the same.

Historia
Rising young comedian Moshe Kasher is lucky to be alive. He started using drugs when he was just 12. At that point, he had already been in psychoanlysis for 8 years. By the time he was 15, he had been in and out of several mental institutions, drifting from therapy to rehab to arrest to...you get the picture. But Kasher in the Rye is not an "eye opener" to the horrors of addiction. It's a hilarious memoir about the absurdity of it all.

In my top 5 of best overall audible books
Revisado: 03-31-24
Moshe Kasher brings his substantial talent for stand up comedy to the narration of his youth. Listening to this audio book gave me the sense I had invited Moshe over to my house for pizza and drinks, and we sat around the fire pit until 4am as he regaled me with the misadventures of his youth. I didn't want the storytelling to stop; it was just too wildly funny, playfully entertaining, and deeply human. Moshe's conversational writing style and one on one performing style forges a connection with the reader from word one.

Chandler like you've never known him
Revisado: 11-14-22
Perry reads this with gut wrenching honesty that breaks the barrier of being "rich and famous" to being that one guy every knows, who sometimes is ourselves. He's relatable. His transparency takes the listener on an emotional roller coaster of cheering for him, yelling at him in anger, crying for his family, sighing in exasperation and finally feeling hopeful for him. Perry's honesty can make the listener feel uncomfortable but only because his struggles resonate with our own.

Historia
It’s a story you may think you know - an aging baseball coach is challenged by the very boy he took in and raised. But in this near future world, "smart” houses talk and listen, and - privy as they are to the secret life of the household - family life gets interesting. Creepy and funny, unsettling and entertaining, this is a story that stands on its own even as it proves the perfect follow up to Gish Jen’s critically acclaimed novel The Resisters.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.
