Historia
Social media influencer and podcast host April Ajoy wouldn’t have called herself a Christian Nationalist when she performed her original song “America Say Jesus” on the Jim Bakker show, or when she participated in Jesus Marches across America, or when she posted cringe-worthy videos on YouTube to campaign for Mitt Romney. April just considered herself a good Christian: faithful, Republican, and determined to make America a Christian nation once again.

Education in Christian Nationalism
Revisado: 04-03-25
What an eye opener! Not only into Christian Nationalism but White Evangelicalism. I’ve read or listened to other books written by people who were Evangelicals, but this was from a female perspective. I must confess I spent a good part of this listen being almost enraged by the beliefs espoused by people in this Movement, considering these are professed Christians. People should be alarmed by any push for the U.S. to be run by Christian Nationalists.

Laugh out loud funny!
Revisado: 09-17-24
I watched Bill Geist over the years on CBS News Sunday morning and always enjoyed those segments. I enjoyed learning about Will Geist’s career. I listened to this on my daily morning walks, smiling and laughing out loud as I walked. I can only imagine what others were thinking. I hope my smiles/laughter gave them a lift in their day as Bill and Will did to mine.

Historia
Smart, hilarious, and incisive, the Liberal Rednecks confront outdated traditions and intolerant attitudes, tackling everything people think they know about the South - the good, the bad, the glorious, and the shameful - in a laugh-out-loud funny and lively manifesto for the rise of a New South. Home to some of the best music, athletes, soldiers, whiskey, waffles, and weather the country has to offer, the South has also been bathing in backward bathroom bills and other bigoted legislation.

Not from the South, but ….
Revisado: 05-25-24
I’m not from the South but from Northern Delaware, My neighbors, friends, etc. think our two lower counties are definitely in the South. Bless their hearts. I grew up in our middle county (yeah, we’re that small) and so much of what you wrote about sounds like home. Sweet iced tea was a staple in my mother’s home, though hers was nowhere near as sweet as her next-door neighbor’s. That’s probably because the neighbor was from Georgia originally. The good old boy mentality surely still is a thing here in my part of the US. Racism? Prescription pill addiction? Sadly, check and check. All this to say that I think we’re all more alike than not, regardless of where we’re from.
This was a great listen. Thanks!

Historia
Trae and Corey will take you from the smallest of small towns to major US metropolises (or is it metropoli? We haven't a fartin' clue!). They'll even cross the pond to sip tea in some of them fancy kings-and-castles places that PBS Viewers Like You can't stop yapping about. From Chickamauga to Cheyenne, New York to New Orleans, Seattle to Scotland—no matter where these two wandering jesters go, there's something to roast, something to toast, and something to learn about what ties us together as humans. Even the most outrageous of us.

Cleeton’s Best Yet
Revisado: 10-07-23
I’ve read all Ms. Cleeton’s books. This is, in my opinion, her best. I enjoyed how she wove together the characters. I can’t quite remember when in the book I put it all together, but I do recall the actual aha in my brain! Looking forward to more of her writing.

Since Bob has appeared, I've made huge strides in my life. For more than a decade I was a homeless drug addict. I was lost to the world and had forgotten what was important in life. Now I've got myself back on my two feet, but as I put the past behind me, I'm still stepping unsteadily into the future. I still need help in the right direction. Bob is always there to offer guidance and friendship.' James and his street cat Bob have been on a remarkable journey together

Lovely Story
Revisado: 08-02-23
I can’t imagine the trials and tribulations of James Bowen. But, as someone who has had several feline friends through the years, I know how much cats can change our lives. All the cats I’ve had (Eliot, Ness, Lucy, Spenser and Penny) surely rescued me. I got the better end of the relationship deal I had with each. My grandmother used to say she wanted to come back as one of my cats because she knew how well cared for my furry friends were. That always made me smile. Still, they gave so much more to me that helped instill in me how important it is to treat everyone – both those with two legs or four – with love and kindness. Cars teach us so much.. What a gift!

Historia
People are now exposed to more information than ever before, provided both by technology and by increasing access to every level of education. These societal gains, however, have also helped fuel a surge in narcissistic and misguided intellectual egalitarianism that has crippled informed debates on any number of issues. Today, everyone knows everything and all voices demand to be taken with equal seriousness, and any claim to the contrary is dismissed as undemocratic elitism.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 03-01-23
Interesting read/listen. I was a little disappointed how much time was spent on discussing the death of expertise in our colleges and universities. If the purpose was to make me wonder if we can ever return to a place of Americans being interested in acquiring accurate information to better educate themselves and thus more fully participate in our democratic republic, then the author was successful. Also, for some reason, I did not realize that the author was not the narrator. I could swear I was hearing Tom Nichols’ voice. So obviously, the narrator did a good job. There was a tone, at least to my ear, of condescension…whether it was intended or not. That was a bit off-putting. Overall, a good listen.

Historia
In 2017, President Obama, in his final Oval Office interview, was asked who gave him hope for the future of the country, and Jason Kander was the first name he mentioned. Suddenly, Jason was a national figure. As observers assumed he was preparing a run for the presidency, Jason announced a bid for mayor of Kansas City instead and was headed for a landslide victory. But after eleven years battling PTSD from his service in Afghanistan, Jason was seized by depression and suicidal thoughts. He dropped out of the mayor’s race and out of public life. And finally, he sought help.

Historia
Remember Us is a look back at the lost world of the shtetl: a wise Zayde offering prophetic and profound words to his grandson, the rich experience of Shabbos, and the treasure of a loving family. All this is torn apart with the arrival of the Holocaust, beginning a crucible fraught with twists and turns so unpredictable and surprising that they defy any attempt to find reason within them. Through the eyes of 91-year-old Holocaust survivor Martin Small, we learn that these priceless memories that are too painful to remember are also too painful to forget.

What a powerful account of Mr. Small’s personal experience! I’m overwhelmed. With everything happening in the world today, it should give everyone pause to pray that we not encounter this kind of horror again. We cannot fail to act before it’s too late.
