Wow really did not like this one and I’ve really enjoyed the previous books in the series.
Revisado: 04-19-25
I know these are supposed to be dumb and funny but this on was just too much dumb and not enough interesting story. The build up for going to Jersey and that whole arc was a total let down and the when the big bad jokes about murdering children thats was when I stopped reading. The first couple books had such a great blend of dumb/funny/serious. The MC was in over his head and fighting for his life. A huge moment of his coming into his own is when he saves a small family. Now the author is flippantly writing about kids getting murdered. This book is a parody of its own earlier novels. I really loved this series but man this one missed the mark. Not sure I’ll continue the next one. Narration was excellent as always.
Spoilers below:
Knuckled through and finished the book. I will not be reading anymore in this series. Love the previous books but this one was too dumb. Maggie is a stupid as shit character and I was sick of her after the first 10 minutes. Now who knows how much longer her character will be part of the story.

Historia
Freddy Stern, a twenty-one-year-old cashier, has lived a plain, albeit harsh life. Having been orphaned—twice—he's spent the last ten years working and staying out of trouble. His only aspiration is to save enough money to become an archhuman. His dream gets the jump on him when he barely survives a near-death encounter and finds himself in possession of 1% Lifesteal, a bizarre talent with numerous contradictions and just as many uses.

A fun story
Revisado: 04-06-25
I def enjoyed the story and will be grabbing the next one. Had a lot of action and some good luck for the hero. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in a decently paced progression action oriented sort of-modern fantasy story. Narration was excellent.

Historia
Ian and Vic are brothers. Their lives are simple, and while they might long for excitement, happiness can be found in a hard day's work, a sunny day, or the smile from a pretty girl. Their lives are turned on end when their village is attacked and they are taken as slaves, destined to labor under the watchful eye of their captors. The strife that had long dominated much of the world had found them. Things would never be the same.

This story is such a disappointment
Revisado: 02-27-25
The story had a great start and then everything fell apart after the village was attacked and the slaves taken. The reaction to the slavers was so passive it was so off putting. The person responsible for killing/enslaving the MCs family and their whole village well he felt really bad about that so sorta gets a pass from the MC. I should have stopped at that point but I was hoping there would be a pay off still so I continued. Wish I hadn’t. MC is an idiot through and through. Every time I was interested that something was finally happening the MC just does some other stupid bs.
If you are looking for a good revenge story look elsewhere.

Historia
With Fyrion a distant speck behind us and the resources of the Dragon’s Right Eye out of reach, there’s only one place in the system we can go to gather the materials we need to advance to bronze. Ilirian beckons. But dangers lurk in those dark jungles, and the ruins of a civilization long dead house threats the likes of which no amount of training or meditation could’ve prepared us for. It’s advance or fall behind, and with the infinite sea at my back, there’s only one real option.

Historia
Hump and his companions return to Sheercliff City to find a region plagued by monsters—bad news for most, but for a hedge wizard, it's just good business. With the gorger dead and the bond with his unhatched dragon growing quickly, Hump looked forward to some ordinary adventures. Yet trouble finds him as the Inquisition arrives, accusing him of his master's murder. It seems there is more to the old man's death than he believed.

Historia
Legends speak of wizards with the power to rival Gods. To Hump, it’s just a story. Apprenticed to a wandering wizard, he grew up on the road, following the coin on whatever quest it took them. He always believed his master was just an ordinary hedge wizard, until the old man suddenly died, and his book of spells bound to Hump’s soul. Knowing no other life, Hump takes up his master’s staff and heads out alone into a world of dungeons and monsters. So begins the path of The Wanderer. The White Flame. The Hedge Wizard.
