My hat's off to Jessica Almasy. Quite a feat to voice all the male a female characters in the 11 books of the series. Major disappointment book 12 isn't available yet. I laughed more than any other series I've listened to. Between Candy (yes a lot of f-bombs, but that didn't bother me like other reviewers noted), Gram, Tim, and those loveably quirky four horsemen of the apocalypses, The comedy was throughout. Yes, the scenes dragged on and on, but overall, I very much enjoyed the listen, and hope Book 12 is out soon (narrated by Jessica Almasy, so I don't forget what's what with the characters, after having moved on to other series and books from Audible.

First, let me agree with previous reviews about Sebastian York only narrating the Epilogue. I went through the book hoping he would narrate at least a few of the chapters. Beyond disappointing. Shayna Thibodeaux's narration was rife with such snarkiness it was a total turn off. Yes, the female character's personality was that of a snarky, resentful, incorrectly sarcastic, downgrading and completely judgmental cynic (so much like the "rich people" she put down), but I have to say having Shayna narrate the entire book totally grated against me. Hearing that voice of hers was like nails on a chalkboard, made me want to say "shut-up, and had me progressing forward to the next chapters in an attempt to find out where Sebastian's unmistakable and soothing voice would come in. I'll stay away from books narrated by her going forward. Such a disappointing let down.

Of all the Braden, and Braden Cousin stories (which I totally enjoy), I think Savannah and Jack's love story was the most heart wrenching. So many times throughout, I cried while listening. Didn't matter that I was in traffic driving to/from work; I cried. Jack's tragic past and self-imposed separation from family and let's face it life as a whole tore at my heart.I think Savannah's continued draw to a client turned boyfriend turned repeated cheater was comfortable for her because he always apologized and came back for more. Not smart, but what else did she have. Plus she was ashamed to reveal those details to her protective brothers. As an Attorney and raised to be strong and independent like her brothers, Savannah's personal and professional sides were clearly in conflict. I kind of understand having the types of internal conflicts both Jack and Savannah felt. I think we all have internal conflicts at times of our lives, and the stories of these two different yet remarkably similar people really made me think and have much better perspective; empathy. Two thumbs up for the writing and wisdom of this particular story, and 5 super shining stars for my favorite narrator BJ Harrison. Unlike so many other narrators, his male and female voicing is absolutely distinguishable, and his inflection, tone and burst of emotion of all the different characters is spot on perfect. Bravo Melissa and Encore BJ!

After reading the reviews for the next book in this series Beholden, I knew my opinion of Catherine and to a lesser degree Jackson was spot on. I can't recall a more whiny, childish, weak-willed, and completely selfish uh... heroine. What a turn off listening to 29 chapters of this person with such low self-esteem, a chronic need for support, validation, attention and emotional fulfillment from everyone around her. Too, too much! I couldn't take it, and am stepping away from more of that roller coaster ride in the second book. If that's your thing, enjoy; this story's a big no thanks from me.

This volume stars out strong with Leland as ever being the most adorable laugh a minute character. I very much enjoyed the further personality character development of Henry, Mason and "Jer-Bear" Jeremy. Take my word for it, the Sasquash episode is a riot, as is Jackson's love of his sportscar with two different names (akin to Leland's love for his guns, his babies, lol). Oh, and "Call Tracy... Calling Tracy, Henry's wife with the big boobs" is another laugh riot. Henry is the ultimate straight man throughout. I didn't like that Castle was far too much like Leland. These books have room for only one enigma.
As the conflict peaks, the story drones on until it's conclusion. I would have like to have been given more yet slight snippets of Leland's true emotions personally and privately shared between Leland and Jackson, as opposed to being left to Leland monologuing to himself. This dynamic between Leland and Jackson made Jackson so much more of a sappy sop for Leland. It got old really fast. And don't get me started on how the antagonist was taken down and the corresponding dialogue.. Overall, this series really would make for a good multi-episode watch on cable or pay-per-view.

Great story, great mystery and suspense throughout, super hot love scenes, really great narration by all. I was completely able to immerse myself in every scene, visualizing as if I was watching a movie; a big complement and testament to Lauren Blakely's terrific writing style. What I was preparing myself for (not telling what chapter - you just have to listen for yourself), completely knocked me off my feet with surprise and yes shock. Book 3, here I come!

I don't know if it was the the female narrator's voice or her very dull monologues or perhaps both. Goodness knows, like another reviewer said, I could listen to Shane East read the New York Metropolitan Phone Book and be totally enthralled, but even Alexander's droning got old fast. I could not connect with either of the two main characters or their story. Yeah, I get that they're each broken in different ways, chance brings them together, they initially fight the mutual sexual attraction, yada, yada. I suppose I was hoping the storyline in the direction of as their love and affection/passion for one another developed, Violet and Barrister Alexander figured out how to successfully sue the pants off and pocketbook from the ex-boyfriend-business-gone IPO thief, giving her equal credit and profit in the company. It was a dream. I also wasn't expecting the two main characters to be so incredibly daft and the subordinate characters to be far more interesting. I know this is a series, but like I said, I just couldn't relate. Sorry LB fans, this truly wasn't my cup of HEA erotic tea.

I am an absolute romance novel and HEA fan, BUT this story was entirely too syrupy and pie in the sky sappy for my taste. The whole be a better girlfriend and a better wife thought process and the best sex of her life during a one night stand while at a 5-day love retreat storyline, just doesn't cut it for me. There's no way I could even remotely relate to the female character. I guess that's just me. Perhaps someone else with thoroughly enjoy, relate to and imagine themselves as this head in the clouds character. That's all I have to say.

Bravo Kelex! I laughed and cried. Boy did I ever cry! An absolutely wonderful and heart-wrenching story of love, loss, and the long, bumpy and tear-filled road to HEA. No spoilers... you'll have to listen and enjoy yourself.
