Game changing for me
Revisado: 06-30-24
I've always felt this like meditating was hard and Sura gives very heart-felt insight into a less restrictive approach to meditating. She also shares a lot of her personal story which I find to be helpful in understanding the whole picture. Overall the book really inspired me to restart my own meditation practice!

Historia
When children are late in hitting developmental milestones, parents worry. And no delay causes more parental anxiety than late talking, which is associated in many parents' minds with such serious conditions as autism and severe intellectual disability. In fact, as children's speech expert Stephen Camarata points out in this enlightening book, children are late in beginning to talk for a wide variety of reasons.

Empowering
Revisado: 10-13-22
I feel very empowered now. I'm going to seek a reevaluation because we sound like too many of the stories in this book. there was a bit of a rant in chapter 5, but other than that this is good stuff.

The Book I needed
Revisado: 12-31-21
I didn't need another book on autism that tells me how to help with Tantrums. Ultimately they all say the same thing. This got down to the core of anxiety and fears as a parent of a differently wire child. It was a great read and exactly what I needed to hear!

Wish I had this when we first got a diagnosis!
Revisado: 09-04-21
Like other parents, upon receiving a diagnosis, I took a deep dive into different therapies and parenting strategies. I was getting lost in controversies and "experts" defending their practices. Everyone seemed to contradict and bash each other, yet say many of the same things. This book is a VERY well balanced take on all of them. It does a great job at respecting the child while explaining to parents what an autistic child is experiencing and why traditional parenting methods don't work. Yet it also gives a good framework for building a bridge with your child. The ADHD section flared my skepticism, but she explains the reasoning well.
The narrator is SUPER robotic, BUT I've found that books aimed at those in the the ASD and ADHD world tend to be that way. So I think it's intentional. Speeding it up a little helped!
