The world’s most trusted guide for leaders in transition. Transitions are a critical time for leaders. In fact, most agree that moving into a new role is the biggest challenge a manager will face. While transitions offer a chance to start fresh and make needed changes in an organization, they also place leaders in a position of acute vulnerability. Missteps made during the crucial first three months in a new role can jeopardize or even derail your success.

A Must Read for any leader.
Revisado: 12-10-22
This was recommended to me by a former boss. My first time through it I ignored it glanced through most of it. As a result made mistakes (some fatal) with my first leadership role.
I’m my third now and just finished it. Looking back I see that paying more attention here, using the teachings and also reading it 2x would have helped me, those I led, and the organization I worked for.
A must read

Historia
Disgraced in the psychiatric hospital where he'd practiced for nearly 30 years, Dr. Walter Freeman has taken to traversing the country and proselyting about a very new kind of salvation: the transorbitol lobotomy. With an ice pick and a hammer, Freeman promises to cure depression and catatonia, delusions and psychosis, with a procedure as simple and safe as curing a toothache. When he enters the backwater Oklahoma town of Burnwood, however, his own sanity will be tested.

Great Story Beholden of Stephen King
Revisado: 08-02-16
If you could sum up The Incurables in three words, what would they be?
Chilling Noir Fiction
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Incurables?
The detailed account of the practice of the frontal lobotomy
Which character – as performed by Richard Rieman – was your favorite?
Scout
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Chilled me many times. Ignorance is the biggest horror in the universe and power wielded by ignorance is pure evil.
Any additional comments?
Jon Bassoff hits this one out of the park. Before we get too far I should inform you that I grew up with “Bass” and am so proud to have listened to it. That being said, this story goes really deep into a time in history where primitive medical practice, religious allegory, and crowd mentality ruled the day. Bass is a great story teller and will take you on a ride into the human condition reminiscent of Stephen King.
Reader- If you are interested in a fast paced chill ride, look no further than The Incurables. You will not be disappointed.

Mahan Khalsa and Randy Illig offer a better way. Salespeople, they argue, do best when they focus 100 percent on helping clients succeed. When customers are successful, both buyer and seller win. When they aren't, both lose. It's no longer sufficient to get clients to buy - a salesperson must also help the client reduce costs, increase revenues, and improve productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

A very fun read with surprisingly deep characters
Revisado: 07-05-16
Having read to kill bin Laden, I was a little apprehensive about continuing to hear works by this author. I wasn't holding too many expectations as I was standing to the axiom "operators can't write and writer can't operate".
However, Dalton Fury proved me wrong and has woven a pretty realistic and exciting tale of life in the front lines with some surprisingly deep characters.
Well worth the investment and I will be reading the next in line.

Does not disappoint
Revisado: 06-25-16
Looking at the political climate that we live in today it's good to hear stories like this where a character who survived the death of the author can come back to full form. If you haven't been in Vince Flynn fan you should really consider this series. And to that I would definitely not start with this book.
However, if you're like me and have followed Mitch Rapp throughout the entire series you will be overjoyed that this continues and has gotten just as much attention to plot, character, and detail as all the books.

Preparation is easy to praise but very hard to master. No modern coach, in any sport, understands that better than NFL veteran Tom Coughlin. He led the New York Giants to two Super Bowl victories with his system of relentless preparation and old-school tough-mindedness. He teaches his players that you can never guarantee a win, but you can always earn the right to win - with focus, consistency, hard work, and anticipation of obstacles. And if you’ve earned the right to win, you can sleep soundly before a big game....

If you are a New York Football Giants fan then this might be a self help bible. If you are not then is definitely a good philosophy and guide book for success. I see this as a good refresher and one you should read once or twice a year before a "rush season" or if I am in a slump.
Regardless a solid man and good principles to live by.

Revisado: 06-12-16
As a fan of the show (Million Dollar Listing NY) I have loved Fredrik and glean positive energy from his success. Often times on tv and in books there is a need to show tragedy and failure as part of the human experience. However MDLNY just shows success and very rarely failure. It gets me fired up but enough about the show.
I always wanted to know if it was real how real and what are some of the secrets. Here it is. This book is a great insightful view into Fredrik and his journey to the top. Also his secrets.
You will love this book! And congratulations on considering the title and reading this review. You are so close to experiencing it.

But Kathy Reilly of The Washington Post doesn’t know any of that when she encounters a brief mention of Mili in an old Russian propaganda magazine, and becomes interested in the story of a legendary, beautiful female sniper who seems to have vanished from history.

Good historical lesson and neat story but...
Revisado: 04-07-16
The plot is very robust but lacks a lot of glue to make the story even remotely plausible. It is a fun listen and the production value was very good but you have to take a lot of liberties with some of the plot twists.
I have loved Stephen Hunter books since my first (The Master Sniper) and I'm happy that I listen to this one but like not recommend it as an introductionto the Bob Lee Swagger anthology.
