MAGICALLY AMAZING -
Revisado: 08-09-21
NEVER in my life have I or will I write a more sincere review than I am about to do now!
I remember this event/trial playing as it occurred. I was the same age as Damien and from a small little farm town full of "judge the different"! I remember thinking as it unfolded those boys were NOT GUILTY. Even at my young and naive age - even I knew. I watched the updated stories over the years and never lost sight of my original thoughts.
I have had this book in my wish list forever, but never could bring myself to listen - until now! Let's just say - I could not put it down, BUT had to at times to take breaks because NEVER has my soul felt such anger for the gross injustice done to a stranger! The fact that Damien Echols still sees the good and beauty in things is mind boggling. He is on this earth to CHANGE the earth! His story needed to be told and it needed to be told BY HIM! After getting through the story the last 30 minutes literally gave me chills that wouldn't go away and I cried when Damien and Jason FIANLLY got back in the police car to GO HOME!
To every single participant in the journey of disgust and wrongness of Damien, Jason, and Jessie - perhaps we should quote TV judges and just say "May God have mercy on your souls!". Though truly, you each deserve NONE!
May every single December (my birthday too - so I get it!), Halloween, bird, tree, song, angel, God, barking dog, blowing wind, word, bite of food, glance from a stranger that doesn't know you, and any and everything from this day forward bring you NOTHING but SMILES and internal JOY for the rest of your LIFE!
Lastly - I thought Matthew McConaughey had the only voice that could read me a "Z" encyclopedia and I would hang onto every word, but I was wrong - - Damien Echols has that voice too, but sprinkled with a lot of calm and soul with it! In that you have the BEST narrator ingredients!
In the end, this book will stay with me FOREVER! Damien's words will ring in my ears from time to time until I die! What an AMAZING MAGICAL SOUL that I am grateful to have been able to see a TRUE STORY GLIMPSE INTO!

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Revisado: 03-23-21
Let's be honest!!!!! Matthew McConaughey could read me the encyclopedia word for boring word and I would hang on to every one of them! His voice and performance of this book was just as breathtaking as anything else he puts his heart and soul into! The book is inspiring, deep, funny, interesting, and calming! It is refreshing to see someone in todays' world that follows THEIR OWN lead no matter what.....well, someone besides myself! LOL GREAT GREAT READ!!!!

Every Day Of The Year....
Revisado: 11-16-18
At my mid-life crossroad I have taken on real estate as a part-time profession and realized I LOVE IT.....and after the guilt of NOT doing it for the last 25 years I also realized that I CAN DO THIS.....BUT how and where do I start. I have the license and the personality, but building my own business and database - WHAT?????? Every day I try to "get myself and brand out there" as people tell me I should, but it gets frustrating when you think....."how can I tweak this" or "should I change that". This book gives you inspirations and guidance in all sides of being a real estate agent. She uses examples that a child from the 80's can relate too. Dummy down the business for us newbies. LOL The book is broken up for every day of the year instead of chapters which is different and pleasant. I will be reading this book again and again for little pick me ups!!!!!!

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

Decluttering I go...
Revisado: 07-27-18
I loved the energy and ideas of this book for the most part. The idea of the house being a "container" is greatness. I am a real estate agent though so I think everyone should "look for a bigger house"...but, the container idea is clever and has helped me see things way more clearly in my own stock piling problems! I really love my new fixture of box form in the laundry room referred to as "donated and liquidated"! We have a pick up service collect it on Fridays (same day as trash day).
The only two things I was hoping to hear in the book that I really didn't was more on sentimental detachment. I have a HUGE problem of holding on to things because they were Granny's or Mom's and I don't want to upset anyone. It was addressed in the book, but maybe I need more of a push to that stuff out of my house. The other was things that "will have value one day" - even if I don't know what they are I was told to save them. LOL
All in all.....the book is great and I will find myself going back through parts of it as I go on my "get this crap out of my house journey". LOL

This is one of those books that can keep you listening, but after the end your left wishing there was so much more....The story did come full circle I think and the narration was great. I think with the word "magic" in the title it should have more magic in the book. Its an "OK" read.

And yet I learned more....
Revisado: 03-30-18
What did you love best about Narcissistic Lovers?
I loved that the dialogue was down to earth and the examples covered different relationships other than just a narcissistic lover --- this one had examples of lovers, co-workers, friends, parents, etc. All relationships were covered.
What other book might you compare Narcissistic Lovers to and why?
Not sure I could name a particular book that this one compares to on this topic.
Which scene was your favorite?
Chapter 17 (I think) when the narrator was relating a middle of the night phone call from a narcissistic lover to his girlfriend. When she was saying what he was "really saying"....It literally made me laugh out loud....but, I am on the "other" side of my relationship and can see this scene for exactly how it is....
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
YES....I had an "ah-ha" moment -which I again didn't think could happen to me anymore on this topic due to past research and experience.....BUT there is a part where she describes a lover to a sematic narcissist as an extension for his own masturbation. This may be hard to hear....but, if you have ever TRULY lived with one - - you would know that is the BEST way to describe most of these situations.....
Any additional comments?
This book kept my interest and the narrator did an AMAZING job~~~~

Historia
Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father, the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent, but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns into an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: Nothing is what it seems.

Sweet story of being young and finding yourself
Revisado: 09-25-16
Would you listen to Nowhere but Here again? Why?
No, but only because I heard every word the first time. It's actually a refreshing story that I didn't see coming
What did you like best about this story?
It was clean and heartwarming - -peaceful which was not expected in the "idea" of a biker club story.
What does Marguerite Gavin and Sean Pratt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I LOVED the dual voicing!!!! It made the book much more interesting with the boy/girl voices respectively!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

COULDN'T FINISH IT.....
Revisado: 09-06-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The narrator was too over the top for me. I felt like what could have been a simple and somewhat mysterious story turned into more of a cartoon....
Would you ever listen to anything by Angie Fox again?
I would if I was actually READING it MYSELF...
Would you be willing to try another one of Tavia Gilbert’s performances?
I would if perhaps a different type of story.....
