Disappointing Storyline

Unfortunately, I am pretty disappointed with this storyline. I usually enjoy every book I read/listen to because, but unfortunately this one is a hard pass.

Everywhere this book went, there was a “minority” point of view needing to be showcased - sort of like “what more minority trope can we add in here? Oh that’s new! Let’s throw it in!” More like a political agenda was being pushed on me so I could t really enjoy the story.

I can understand the premise of having a house full of misfits and being there for each other, but it honestly felt as though any “normal” values are wrong and obscene.

I was originally looking forward to a crazy-house fantasy-type novel, and all this book had for fantasy was real-life which acts like tarot cards and dreams. Again, it was more like shoving a minority-political-ish agenda on me.

Wish Penelope Was My Best Friend

This book is probably in my top 10 favorite books. It is nonstop hilarious, HOT, calls out and pokes fun at cliche romance-novelesque stuff that doesn’t make sense (example: being deliciously sore in a woman’s nether regions is NOT a thing. That “coke-can” sh** HURTS and takes more time than an hour to get used to it!). Riverdance & finger guns for the win!

I wish Penelope was real and my best friend! It would never be boring and I would always have the time of my life with her. Talk about wanting THAT GUY…. I want THAT GIRLin my life… in a purely platonic way of course. lol

This was an amazing book. Cobie Smulders’ performance definitely makes the main character come to life! I can’t wait for book 3!

Love Lexi Graves!

I love Camilla Chafer’s novels, especially Lexi and the other characters. I also LOVE Vanessa Daniels’ narration. Great stories, twists, and enough comedic relief to make it all relatable enough to enjoy.

Read all the books and listened to all available audio books. Wish there were more audio ones! A busy mama doesn’t have a lot of time to read as often as she would like.

Never leave 5 stars, but this!!

This rom-com is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite! The combination of Lily Chu’s writing and Phillipa Soo’s narration is superb. I am someone that not only has married into a wonderful Asian family, also suffers from extreme depression and anxiety, but also has a deep love for organization; it has been hard for me and them but this novel has hit every point with extreme accuracy.

I LOVE Gracie’s inner monologue, and how she frets over any message she sends or anything she says, it seems so similar to mine (but hers is in a more hilarious way); I wish Gracie were a real person so she can be MY best friend. 🤣 oh!! I also wish her app were real, it would tickle my inner nerd happy feelings so much!

I cannot wait to listen to more that this writer and narrator produce.

CRAVING MORE!

I really enjoyed this series and genuinely need Jennifer L. Hart to write more!

I absolutely loved the way the main characters were written: witty, caring, trustworthy, and definitely relatable.

There are some interesting (but not too unrealistic) situations that they happen to get themselves into that makes it entertaining for the reader/listener throughout all 4 books.

I also enjoyed having all four books within one purchase and the narrator did a fantastic job.

Good story, with an exciting ending

Exciting and fun, highly recommend this book for any adult (there's definitely some graphic encounters of the romantic variety) who loves vampires and the attitude of a cowboy
