A wonderful fusion of music, narration and writing
Revisado: 09-07-19
Usually I prefer the narration of my wonderful narrator cousin, Audie Nominated Eileen Stevens, but I have to admit that Suzy Jackson was enchanting as the narrator of Jessica Khoury’s book The Mystwick School of Magic which should touch the heart of anyone capable of enjoying any kind of performance within the performing arts, even and especially those who have participated in any kind of collaborative art , perhaps especially those who have struggled finding their own unique voice within the arts when struggling to find a way to find their own unique voice within the arts because of personal trauma or limitations. I long for further adventures of the protagonists and wonder if this wonderful school will find other performing arts finding their way into magical arts.
I have to compliment the performance of the orchestra and conductors as well as the author for selecting the magical music that was such an important and magical part of this performance. Thanks to Amazon’s Audible for selecting such a wonderful choice for this month’s Audible Originals selections.

Historia
The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore is a delight!
Revisado: 12-31-17
I find it hard to say how much I enjoyed this Audiobook, which seems, in the glow of having just finished it, the perfect combination of Story and Performance leading us through the doors of a mysterious San Francisco bookstore deep into the mysteries of humanity’s search for the key to immortality in the new Information Age where the combined resources of chained internet computing can accomplish a million person hours of work in just three seconds.
This is a work of fiction that meets the reader where they are and guides them through the almost universal human struggle to make sense out of nonsense and meaning out of chaos in a world comprised of interesting and complex multi-dimensional characters (not a pun).
Those who love books and struggle with the changes and issues created by the digital age will find this book especially compelling as will those wired to the cusp of changes in the Information Age. The best part about this book may be the way the mystery unravels at its climactic end.
As a mystery, I must admit that clues were fairly placed, yet surprises were found in places unexpected.
The narrator is excellent and now is second only to my favorite Audible Narrator Eileen Stevens. His performance adds much to this audio book and is a real asset to the book.
I highly enjoyed this book and strongly recommend it. I look forward to reading/the next in the sequence.

Thrilling story of romance and terror
Revisado: 09-18-17
The third in Ally Carter's Embassy Row Series so masterfully narrated by Eileen Stevens takes us even further into the secrets, terrors and intrigues of Embassy Row. But oh, things are much more treacherous and dangerous as we had even begun to suspect in the comparatively lighthearted first two books. Yet, Carter and Stevens give us even more for our money as the twists and turns evolve as time passes and more secrets are revealed.
Both Carter and Stevens give us risky and evocative performances of writing and narration that are edgy and breathtaking. Don't miss this one.

Mrs. Pollifax: Always a Delight!
Revisado: 02-29-16
Once again Mrs. Pollifax peels away the layers of an intricate mystery while charming new friends who are surprised by her depth. Surprisingly, this tale has barely aged at all and is perhaps as relevant today, or more than when it was written. Well narrated.

A Classic Radio Drama of Asimov's Nightfall
Revisado: 04-23-15
There are several ways to experience Issac Asimov's classic SF story Nightfall, but in audio format, experiencing it as a fully produced radio drama has its benefits and this is an excellent production.
If you were only going to experience one of Asimov's stories, this would be a great one, though it's unlikely that if you experience this one you will stop here.
A provocative premiss, an otherworldly but comparable civilization that is interesting and an engaging story with tension that builds until the story's climax all add together to make this one of Asimov's most unforgettable works.
The performance quality is excellent too, from the heyday of network radio. A must hear.
