Please don’t waste your time like I did (contains spoilers)
Revisado: 10-28-22
In this episode the narrator says “there is one conclusion we found most compelling” and then plays a clip of someone saying the protagonist was murdered. This is false advertising, they actually firmly come to the opposite conclusion. I kept listening to whole series waiting for the twist that never came. This was a huge waste of my time and I would have quit halfway through but for that false promise in episode 1. Audible, I am very disappointed that you would approve false advertising in an original program

Historia
Mackenzie Allen Phillips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in this midst of his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack one wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change his life forever.

For unquestioning believers only
Revisado: 07-05-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
To be fair, I am an athiest and there is probably no "Jesus is with us" type book that would appeal to me. I made the mistake of looking for a book only by length and didn't read the reviews. The Shack: I was expecting a horror story maybe?
Would you ever listen to anything by William P. Young again?
I would never listen to anything by this author again.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was fine. Nothing remarkably good or bad about it.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Shack?
God suggests to the protagonist that because the hero wants God to condemn a child- murderer to hell, that the hero should have to condemn one of his own (perfectly law-abiding) children to hell. God is almighty, but terrible at analogies I guess?
Any additional comments?
Despite being an athiest, I don't consider myself anti-Christian. I was raised Christian and my beloved mother and grandmother were serious Christians. It really bothered me that the hero had a chance to interact with the trinity and didn't bother asking any of the really hard or political questions. For the most part, I think only the believers in talking snakes will enjoy this.
