Except she’s no beauty - just plain Jane. And his rock-and-roll lifestyle disturbs and even endangers her. It’s safer following her principles than passion. Yet Jane finds herself simultaneously attracted and repelled by this reputed “bad boy” who seems oddly determined to win her approval.

”Fun and lighthearted” are typically not associated with the original book of Jane Eyre, but this modern retelling was just that. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which I appreciated. A lot of the characters meld together and have similar “best case scenario” outcomes. I think the essence of each character was very different from the original, but the major story points are there. It was amusing, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Unfortunately this audiobook is unedited in some parts and sentences are re-read. Two or three time the author says “Mr. Rochester” instead of the new name of “Mr. Richmond” she’d given the character.
Still definitely a fun listen.
