Most encouraging book with compelling story

Dr. Wang sets a standard for perseverance and tolerance. His example of hard work, patience, and original thinking define what can be accomplished in a free country. There is no greater calling than that of improving the human condition, and Dr. Wang is a shining example. Like Jesus, Dr. Wang has given sight to the blind, and who knows, maybe Jesus used Dr. Wang's technique!

A strange and insightful book

Once again Michael Pollan brings information and experience to the reader in a stimulating and thought provoking fashion. Though he tells a singular story, by extention he indicts the government decision makers that fabricate law based on myth and superstition thereby inhibiting growth and human well being. A book worth reading, a concept worth supporting, and a warning against the meager intellectual horsepower of our governmental leadership teams.

A unique premise - with novel situations

The performance was superbly rendered from a superior English translation. Perhaps one of the books interesting qualities is where the author took the story once the supernova era began. It is certainly worth the read.

When a story and a narrator come together

An exceptional tale, spellbinding in its character development and plot. One travels through space and enjoys similitudes with other great literary works while developing an empathic connection with the characters. With novel concepts woven into a superbly narrated story, this book demanded to be played to the end.

Some novel science fiction ideas brought out

The English translation is superior. The readers were also awesome. I can't speak to the veracity of the Physics, but that can be said about all of physics.

Enduring to the end

One noun was used so frequently in this book it became a distraction, breasts! It seems to me that more than a third of the book comprises descriptions of women changing their clothes, discussing the inadequacies of men, and folding their arms under their breasts. I don't recall a single mention of arms folded over their breasts, indeed I don't know what breasts have to do with folding of arms except that the author seemed to enjoy discussing them.

Very interesting short read

A near identical treatise can be found in "Valley of Amazement". This read discusses the sexual aspect of man woman intimacy. Amy Tan has the courage to present what others only hint at, and she does so with class, style, and a command of the English language.

Entertaining and informative

One is drawn through the story with all of its tragedy and joy. Ms. Tan is a fine writer who with words paints a vivid world into which she transports her reader. The insight into the Chinese culture and thoughts of women make the book doubly valuable.

Enthralling story keeps reader's interest

This was an interesting read that compels the reader to keep turning pages. The most common of humans are slowly translated into extraordinary beings. A release of the power of the human mind that transcends the characters in the book to be incorporated into the reader.
