What made the experience of listening to Outside Gravity the most enjoyable?

I have read these beautiful and heartbreaking poems by Paul Burnore many times but not aloud, so they were only words in my head. Hearing them spoken in Joseph Bowen's distinctive, clear voice made the experience of this art even more engaging and powerful. I downloaded the audible version early one weekday morning thinking I would start listening on my way to work. I decided to take a quick listen. A full half hour later I had to stop and go to work. If you have ever lost someone or had sadness you didn't know what to do with, this book is medicine.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The characters are many. I like the voice of the author describing the way life and grief pull you in and down and then up and out again.

Have you listened to any of Joe Bowen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I believe I have. I recognize the voice and wonder what else I've listened to with him. It very clear, rich reading.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I thought listening in sections was nice too. The poems each tell a story and they are tied together, so it works in pieces and as a whole.

Any additional comments?

This book is soft and tender and hard and rocky. A very soulful read! I highly recommend it to poet souls and to anyone who wants to experience engaging, thoughtful words about being a human on this planet, held by gravity. Paul has created a lovely work.
