Historia
The Martian meets Gravity when Army Pilot Vaughn Singleton, Earth’s last man, rushes to Area 51 in search of a spaceplane after he discovers the last woman is stranded on the International Space Station and barely alive - thus beginning a race against time. The event that wiped life from the planet started at the supercollider. It created a rift in space-time. The astronaut stranded aboard the space station, Commander Angela Brown, is a theoretical physicist who used to work at the collider.

Repetitive. Poor character development
Revisado: 01-08-25
Repetitive. Could not identify with the characters. What’s the deal with “the woman said” when referring to a named character. I give it a good shot but finally gave up with 4 hours to go.

Unexpected
Revisado: 02-22-24
I found the characters compelling and the plot unexpected but, nevertheless, interesting. The sci fi is a bit subdued and not action-driven. The narration suits the crisp writing.

Historia
The Illuminati, an inside joke? The lunatic fringe? Or a vast conspiracy hidden for centuries, unleashing it's power on a naive, defenseless world? It was the lousy luck of Saul Goodman, a tough, streetwise New York detective, to smell the trail in a bombed-out office - the heavy case he'd always dreaded. In a breakneck race against an awesome deadline, Goodman plunges down the trail of the ultimate conspiracy as the days fall away toward Apocalypse.

Oily narration
Revisado: 02-08-24
The voice used to narrate the conspiracies is extremely oily and raspy. Awful. What a downer in an otherwise delightful romp!

Historia
Cole Riker is a Slip Runner. A contractor tasked with finding alien salvage in exchange for credits. For an ex-smuggler like Cole, there’s a catch: Don’t break the terms of parole. That means doing things by the book. Find salvage, turn it in, get paid. But everything changes when a retrieval mission lands him in a previously unknown sector. There, he finds the material he’s been sent to recover, along with something more. A brand-new form of ancient alien life.

This is a lightweight table that’ll entertain you for a few hours. It’ll make for a decent TV show like Firefly but not destined for greatness.

Not too long from today, a new, highly contagious virus makes its way across the globe. Most who get sick experience nothing worse than flu, fever, and headaches. Great novel. Superb novella.
Revisado: 11-30-22
I bought this one because I’ve enjoyed a lot of books by Scalzi and narrated by Wheaton. I confess that I wasn’t expecting a lot from the novel but it is good and well worth your time. But the novella? Blew my mind. Science fiction at its very best! I was amazed with Scalzi’s understanding of Deaf and disability cultures and the disability rights movement. Read it!

Historia
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

Hated the narrator
Revisado: 08-08-22
The story was decently written and I would have liked to have continued the series but the narration was, to my ears, screechy and hysterical. The narrator ended every sentence in a high note as if every sentence ended with a double exclamation point instead of a period. Maybe it’s just me. I suggest you listen to a sample and decide for yourself.

A great Christian fiction
Revisado: 04-27-22
Excellent writing and narration. Well developed characters. Lost me in the end as the protagonist turned to Jesus to save her. I’m okay with that kind of story if it’s your cup of tea. Not mine. I stopped reading an hour from the end.

Narration is . . . FRANTIC!
Revisado: 01-27-22
The story if acceptable mainstream science fiction/alternative history. It’ll make a great Netflix movie. Except for the protagonist, all characters are superficial and forgettable stereotypes. The ending was a fizzle. But, I have to agree with other reviewers who point out that the narrator overdramatizes throughout. I don’t know. Maybe that style appeals to some listeners. Here’s an example: “Made her (pause and then, with emphasis) COUGH!” The entire narration is peppered with that manner of reading.

Historia
Almost from the moment it was first set to paper, the music of Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) - technically superb, rich in quality, and widely imitated - has exemplified the Classical style, creating not only the Classical-era symphony but setting the standard, through his own 68 string quartets, against which that form has ever after been judged. And yet Haydn, despite the influence left by more than 1000 works, seems to no longer get his due, Now, in a series of eight vivid lectures, you can learn to understand and appreciate the music of one of the most original and influential composers of all time.

One of the Best
Revisado: 01-17-22
I’ve listened to dozens of Great Courses and this is now one of my all time favorites. There wasn’t a boring moment in this lecture series! The presentation was clear and dynamic. The content was excellent in showing us Hayden’s life and in giving us enough context of the times to understand it. Highly recommend.

Historia
No subject is bigger than reality itself, and nothing is more challenging to understand, since what counts as reality is undergoing continual revision and has been for centuries. The quest to pin down what's real and what's illusory is both philosophical and scientific, a metaphysical search for ultimate reality that goes back to the ancient Greeks. For the last 400 years, this search has been increasingly guided by scientists, who create theories and test them in order to define and redefine reality.

Revisado: 08-07-21
Redefining Reality is a fascinating set of lectures in which Steven Gimbel shares an overview of many branches of science, bringing us a fascinating perspective of current thought. These lectures are accessible to those of us who are not scientists but who love to have our perspectives challenged. I had fun and will listen again.
