Historia
When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

I’m to the point I probably won’t buy any more James Patterson books. This is one of several that haven’t been very entertaining.

Connelly shows his true colors
Revisado: 01-30-21
I have always known that Michael Connelty was an avowed leftist, and this liberal views have long been evident. But this book takes it to a new level. I have always enjoyed Mickey Holler, but this missive is too much. If you hate former President Trump, you will love this book.

Almost unlistenable
Revisado: 05-10-20
I love James Paterson’s writing. He should have done a better job working with this author. The story is disjointed, I had to relisten to sections to try and figure out what was going on. My least favorite book ever with his name on it.

The White House is the home of the president of the United States, the most guarded, monitored, closely watched person in the world. So how could a US president vanish without a trace? And why would he choose to do so? An unprecedented collaboration between President Bill Clinton and the world's best-selling novelist, James Patterson, The President Is Missing is a breathtaking story from the pinnacle of power.

Wasn’t sure what I was getting myself in to.
Revisado: 10-19-18
All in all, the story was fine. It wasn’t as cohesive as I would’ve liked. The leftward political tilt wasn’t too bad until the sanctimonious speech at the end. On in Bill Clinton’s dreams would that speech have united Americans. I remember the long speech in Atlas shrugged. It was gripping and I wasn’t bored through any of it. This president’s speech was your typical leftist politician’s wish list. After about 30 seconds I had had enough and it went on and on. Not my favorite form of fiction.

Good book but some strange quirks from Lee Child
Revisado: 06-02-18
I have listened to all of the Jack Reacher books. In a few of the books, Lee Child takes an idea and just repeats it over and over again until I am completely annoyed with it. In Tripwire, he'd have a character say something, then repeat exactly what they said and note "he said again". If you were to count the phrase "said again", I'll bet you would find them 1,000 times in the book. And count only the word "again", I"ll bet that repeated at least 2,000 times.
I still enjoyed the story and the performance, I'm just surprised a reader or editor, no one made a comment on this and fixed it before it was published.

Great ideas but something was missing
Revisado: 12-12-17
This is the first book I have listened to from this author. I really hated the book in the beginning. But as the story finally got moving, I enjoyed it a bit.
I really love good dialog, but unfortunately this book didn’t have that. It’s more about narrated exposition and discussing what’s going much more than I like.
Maybe it’s common in the genre but I was hoping by for better.

Historia
The year is 1876. Warring Indian tribes still populate America's western territories, even as lawless gold-rush towns begin to mark the landscape. In much of the country, it is still illegal to espouse evolution. Against this backdrop two monomaniacal paleontologists pillage the Wild West, hunting for dinosaur fossils while surveilling, deceiving, and sabotaging each other in a rivalry that will come to be known as the Bone Wars.
