Historia
A business parable about how to create a start-up that won't trap you when you want to sell it. According to John Warrillow, the number one mistake entrepreneurs make is to build a business that relies too heavily on them. Thus, when the time comes to sell, buyers aren't confident that the company-even if it's profitable-can stand on its own. To illustrate this, Warrillow introduces us to a fictional small business owner named Alex who is struggling to sell his advertising agency.

Good story, bad narrator
Revisado: 06-06-22
Interesting book for someone new to the concept of selling a business. Good basic tips & strategy. Definitely worth a listen if you are a business owner who has never sold a business before.
Unfortunately the narrator isn’t good. He has a really annoying way of ending each sentence like it’s some super profound concept. The first few times this is fine, after an hour you’re ready to give up.
I’m glad I listened all the way through, but it would have been far better with a different narrator.

Very good if you are thinking about a franchise
Revisado: 06-02-22
I'm a franchise owner, and still thought this had very good information. It was good to see a balanced point of view between what a Franchisor & Franchisee want out of a relationship.
There was also a very good breakdown of the line items of an FDD - this alone is worth the book.
A few parts would be better in print form, but it was still very good to listen to. I bought the physical book after listening just for easier reference back when I have future questions.

Tom Edison (no, not that Tom Edison) is a hopeful janitor who dreams of becoming a scientist - and Dr. Morice is a shy scientist who dreams of making friends. When an accident at the lab sends them back in time to the stone age, Tom and Dr. Morice must work together to face down cavemen, saber-tooth tigers, and other BC hazards, with only one problem: Tom isn't very good at science, and Dr. Morice isn't very good with people.

Our kids (4, 6, & 9) loved it on a road trip. Narrator did a great job keeping their attention.
Fun for mom & dad too!

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Not engaging.
Revisado: 01-13-22
I loved The Martian & really liked Project Hail Mary. I really like Andy Weir’s style, but this one was a disappointment.
Parts of the book are fun, and it has a few interesting concepts, but the characters are just not believable. Neither is the story.
I’m fine with far fetched ideas, it’s not that; it’s that the motivations of the characters just aren’t believable or consistent. There also isn’t enough of a story to hold your interest through the bad characters.
I look forward to Weir’s next book, but was disappointed with this one. You’re not missing anything if you skip this one.

Historia
In Super Bowl XLIX, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made one of the most controversial calls in football history: With 26 seconds remaining, and trailing by four at the Patriots' one-yard line, he called for a pass instead of a handing off to his star running back. The pass was intercepted, and the Seahawks lost. Critics called it the dumbest play in history. But was the call really that bad? Or did Carroll actually make a great move that was ruined by bad luck? Even the best decision doesn't yield the best outcome every time.

Way too long for content covered.
Revisado: 02-19-21
Some good ideas in here, but way too long. This would have been great as a brief pamphlet, but it just doesn’t have enough to be a book. A lot of extra intro psychology topics that really don’t have anything to do with the main subject. Feels like the author had to hit a length quota so added a bunch of superfluous content.

Stay away from the audio version
Revisado: 04-24-14
Would you try another book from Richard A. Lambert and/or Kaleo Griffith?
Yes, but probably not another audio one.
Would you ever listen to anything by Richard A. Lambert again?
Very unlikely.
Any additional comments?
This book might be just fine, it seems to have some insightful information; however, it is horrible in audio form.
They give a lot of examples of financial reports and how to interpret them. Normally this would be great; but, they read the numbers in the tables row-by-row, column-by-column. Some of these tables take a couple of minutes to get through. It is very tedious and doesn't help you understand what they are talking about. I don't think anyone could absorb information like this. Would be much better if they had just said, "see the attached PDF."
This is one of the few audio-books that I just couldn't finish.

Historia
At first, only a few things are known about the celestial object that astronomers dub Rama. It is huge, weighing more than ten trillion tons. And it is hurtling through the solar system at inconceivable speed. Then a space probe confirms the unthinkable: Rama is no natural object. It is, incredibly, an interstellar spacecraft. Space explorers and planet-bound scientists alike prepare for mankind's first encounter with alien intelligence.

Decent
Revisado: 12-10-08
I would give 4 stars, but I really didn't like the narration - as others have stated, it feels very choppy, almost a bit slow. It is to the point of being distracting, it made me wish I had just read the print book.
As for the story, it was interesting; not an action packed story, so if you're looking for a fast paced battle story, look elseware; however, it was neat to see how much this story has obviously influenced many other sci-fi stories/movies.
In a way it had a similar feel to 2001 a Space Odyssey.
