Historia
There are things Chelsea Devantez probably shouldn’t be telling you. Many of them are in this book: some are embarrassing (like when she tried to break her three year spell of celibacy using a guide of seduction tips). Some are confessional (getting sentenced to the “hell hill” at Mormon church camp). Some are TMI (a series of outrageous doctor visits that ended with one doctor misdiagnosing her as “pregnant.” Woopsies!).

Listening to this book was like hearing from a friend that you hadn't talked to in a while. I embraced every part, even the redacted sections and found myself reflected in so much of it.

Historia
Chuck Palahniuk, the author of the New York Times best-sellers Fight Club and Lullaby, is known for his edgy novels, and Rant is no exception. Palahniuk presents this fictional biography of Buster "Rant" Casey in a series of vignettes told by the people who knew him best. As intricate as a spider web, Rant succeeds in recounting the story of one man's life only through the eyes of others. But the question remains, "Who was Rant Casey?"

Ok, but still a let down
Revisado: 06-22-22
Based on book description I was so hyped for this book. The first and eighth chapters were my hands down favorite.
The book gets really annoying with different characters giving interview based answers in every chapter.
There are so many characters that it's impossible to keep track of who said what. My favorite character by far was the car salesmen.
Other than that, this is just a boring listen. Not worth spending a credit on

Historia
Tender Branson, the last surviving member of the so-called Creedish Death Cult, is dictating his life story into the flight recorder of Flight 2039, cruising on autopilot at 39,000 feet somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. He is all alone in the airplane, which will crash shortly into the vast Australian outback. But before it does, he will unfold the tale of his journey from an obedient Creedish child and humble domestic servant to an ultra-buffed, steroid-and-collagen-packed media messiah.

A fast read
Revisado: 08-03-21
The way this book reads reminds me a lot of Fight Club. The main character seems like a clone of the narrator of that book. In this story, we have the lone survivor of a death cult, who becomes a famous guru, and ends up hijacking an airplane. This is stuff that only Chuck could dream up.
I have yet to be disappointed by any of Chuck's books and this ranks right behind Fight Club for me. It has great pace, and enjoyable characters, with some great wit.
My only qualm is the ending. Other than that, I loved it and will revisit it later on.

Historia
Gates Foster lost his daughter, Lucy, 17 years ago. He's never stopped searching. Suddenly, a shocking new development provides Foster with his first major lead in over a decade, and he may finally be on the verge of discovering the awful truth. Meanwhile, Mitzi Ives has carved out a space among the Foley artists creating the immersive sounds giving Hollywood films their authenticity. Using the same secret techniques as her father before her, she's become an industry-leading expert in the sound of violence and horror, creating screams so bone-chilling, they may as well be real.

Insane
Revisado: 07-23-21
This is why I love Chuck!
The whole concept of this book is insane. A woman whose job it is to make soul-piercing screams for movies. A man who can't help but search for his child, who has been missing for decades. The two stories don't seem like they'll tie together at first, but there is such a good plot twist in this one, that rivals that of Fight Club.
This is my second favorite book of Chuck, behind Fight Club. I obsessed over it and will be coming back to this one over and over again. Perfectly executed. Well-written characters. The pace of this novel is excellent. By the time the book is over, you'll be begging for more.
Buy it, you won't regret it.

A Fun Read
Revisado: 07-23-21
If you're a comic fanatic then you'll love The Sandman. With an appearance from the Green Martian and Constantine, this story of a God being summoned into the real world, and being held captive for decades. That is until he escapes and makes his way back to the dream world to find it destroyed. He begins his journey to put it all back together.
I loved this work by Neil Gaiman, it tops his work on Good Omens, which was a masterpiece. It's a must-have, and I will be revisiting this one again in the near future.

Historia
When Pope Paul VII dies suddenly, Gabriel Allon is summoned to Rome by the Holy Father’s loyal private secretary, Archbishop Luigi Donati. A billion Catholic faithful have been told that the pope died of a heart attack. Donati, however, has two good reasons to suspect his master was murdered. The Swiss Guard who was standing watch outside the papal apartments the night of the pope’s death is missing. So, too, is the letter the Holy Father was writing during the final hours of his life. A letter that was addressed to Gabriel.

The Premise seems oddly familiar
Revisado: 07-23-21
The pope is murdered, a conspiracy is discovered, a man with knowledge that no one else possesses is called in to help figure out what happens. Does this remind you of another very popular book? One that was turned into a movie? One starring a mister Tom Hanks?
Yeah, the order is a rip-off of Angels and Demons.
This is my first time reading Daniel Silva, so maybe he came up with Gabriel Allon way before Dan Brown created Robert Langdon.
Either way, Robert Langdon was a more interesting character, and Dan Brown's first four novels were amazing.
This is an ok read. You can see the ending coming from a mile away, but it'll help you pass the time.

Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

Can't wait for the sequel
Revisado: 07-23-21
This is a fun read. Harlan Coben has yet to disappoint me, and I love the character of Wilde. I'm so happy to have read his tweet stating he is working on the sequel to this book. This had so many twists and turns, it felt like you were on some kind of a crazy rollercoaster. It's well-paced, the characters are perfectly developed, and you'll fall in love with Wilde.
I will also like to add, every time I read a Coben novel, I feel a bit of homesickness. Being that all his novels take place in New Jersey, and that's where I am originally from, it makes me long to back.
Every time I read his novels I think of the day he spoke at my graduation from Kean, and how he owned the crowd after we were all bored to death by Spike Lee.
Coben is a master wordsmith, and I promise you, this book will keep you engaged.

Historia
In ancient texts, there are stories about men who struck from the shadows, seemingly beyond the reach of death itself. These men were considered part angel, part demon. Their loyalty was to their families, their friends, and their kings. You crossed these men at your peril. And once crossed, there was no crossing back. They were fearless; men of honor who have been known throughout history by different names: Spartan, Viking, Samurai.

A wannabe Rambo
Revisado: 07-23-21
I've never read a Brad Thor novel before Backlash, so I came into this with an open mind. Essentially, what I got out of reading this novel is that Scot Harvath is Brad's take on Rambo, and once again the Russians are America's worst enemies. This trope of one man being able to take down an entire army of men in some crazy terrain is getting old.
I'm not sure if I'll ever read another Brad Thor novel, but I can say it wasn't all bad. It was fast-paced. The action sequences I can easily see being turned into a movie one day. But as far as character development, there really isn't much here.
Now, maybe that's one me. This is the 18th book in the series, maybe I need to go back and read the previous 17, but the Scot Harvath character seems too stale to waste my time on getting to know.
If you like mindless action this book is for you.

Revisado: 07-23-21
I don't know why the chemistry between Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan works so well, but they always seem to pull off some of the most intriguing fast-paced books you'll ever find. I couldn't put this one down, and I'd recommend this one to everyone who loves a good supernatural thriller.
I didn't know this was a series, but I'm glad I bought book one. I will definitely be buying book two.
