Enjoyed all the historical information and how it was presented. The individual stories and following their lives all the way through made this a very enjoyable learning experience. I grew up in Chicago during the 1960’s and unfortunately witness some of the terrible racism. I have read many accounts of the sad experiences of the Civil War and the fight for Emancipation. The continued plight of so many talented and hardworking individuals simply because of their race is appalling.

An artist and I would also say philosopher, who challenges one to create and not judge.
She discovered in her 20’s that she has autism and ADHD. Her art and writing have turned into a business but it has not been easy. This book conveys personal events and also suggestions on allowing ourselves to create. There is a section on journaling and making time to notice and enjoy life. The peace is breathing in grace and letting out anxiety.

This book had many great ideas. All ages could benefit and gain from a more connected life. All ages have so much to offer yet society has labeled and segmented life. Having listened to this book on audible I did not like the voice for this book. I would have enjoyed a kinder and less business voice.

This book gives one the chance to truly appreciate the grace in aging. It conveys teaching from many beliefs, mainly Buddhism but one can also simply apply these teaching to a better life. A chance to share life, live , and wisdom that can come with aging.

This was the best of the current goop series. Even if we have been raised in a loving family we all carry baggage from our past family lives. This episode contained helpful thoughts and positive self talk.

Looking for pleasure

Understand the need to include sex but wish more areas of other pleasure were explored. Sex as pleasure has been presented as a taboo especially for women for many years in the not so distant past. Pleasure can be obtained in so many different forms and while things like dance, art, and even letter writing were briefly mentioned, I wish this segment had focused less on the graphics of sex and more on the pleasures of life.

One has to appreciate the struggle of being part of the Royal Family and all the pressure the press places on their lives. Anyone who is interested in some of the military situations will greatly enjoy the middle section of this book. The tragic death of Lady Dianna and the effect on her sons is clearly a trauma still carried in Harry’s life and probably caused him to feel the need to get this story in writing and out to the public. Whether all the parts of this book are totally accurate are really not as important as Harry’s chance to share some explanations and have society realize the strain placed on individuals such as the Royal Family.

As a Clinical Social Worker and Professor, I found this episode a good learning perspective. It was helpful in the individual sharing particularly in possible options for clients who are not obtaining any help from current conventional treatment.

The insertion of the octopus is a fascinating part of the story. Generally the story itself is otherwise common with someone searching for who their father is and either grieving or dysfunctional families. This appears to be a very popular book right now hence I did the audible version as I had a credit and there were 205 holds on the book at my library. Not sorry I listened to it but not really my genre. The theme is too common.

How four visionary women changed our thoughts in nature, environment, and ecology. Jane Jacobs, Rachael Carson, Jane Goodall, and Alice Waters lives, work, and contributions to society are presented. Their childhood and family dynamics are interesting. Some of the details of their work get lengthy but in areas of interest fascinating. I am tired of the trend of the lengthy discussion of some of their private lives in adulthood, especially the belabored details of their sexual choices. I realize the authors who now include this information in their books are trying to make the individuals seem more human and wanting us to understand and accept all their choices but I find the information too dragged out and really care more about the women’s research and accomplishments and could care less about their sexual preferences.
