Not sure about this one any longer
Revisado: 01-11-23
I've listened to this series multiple times and now that I'm relistening to it, I'm just now realizing that the dialogue is so annoying.
When I first listened to the this series, I was enthralled in it. Now! I've rolled my eyes so many times they feel like marbles.
I mean, I love immortals, vampires, paranormal. I love it. But, this series is good the first time or two around, not so much for 3rd.
Kirsten Potter narrating is still amazing, but I think it's the dialogue that's getting to me. The ladies are suppose to be so strong, yet they whine so much, it's like listening to children. the men in the store are all but knuckle draggers when it comes to their women. I'm mostly letting the story play and it's like white noise while I work.

Didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to
Revisado: 01-02-23
I liked the story, but Maddie jumped to every conclusion there was to jump to. I understand that when something like. kidnapping &/or murder happens EVERYONE is suspect. But, everyone didn't kill the victim, nor did everyone take Sophia. It was kind of like she was irrational. Det. Lahsasso was thinking clearly, but she wouldnt evennlisten to her. But in Maddies defense, she does have a heck of a lot going on in her personal life.
This is my 3rd time listening to this story, and I noticed that everyone almost sounds the same. Sheriff McCoy sounds.....I can't say, I'd be banned from Audible. All the male characters sound the same as the female characters. The story was drawn out, IMO. The story could've ended sooner than it did. I can't put my finger on it, I liked the book the first two times, but I just couldn't enjoy it this time around.

Didn't enjoy the story
Revisado: 01-01-23
due to the narration and the story just being boring. Max's voice was cringy, and the gaps between sections were so annoying. The narrator sounded like she was READING the book. It was flat and uninteresting. The best part was the last couple of chapters, and that's because it was about to end.
It ultimately became "white noise" while it was on. I'm happy it was a free book because I would have hated losing money on this purchase.

Revisado: 11-03-22
Maybe it's just me, but was the energy that's normally in the Missfortune books missing in this book? Why was the shenanigans that normally happens, so lack luster? The narrator didn't sound like herself. I'm just not happy with this listen. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Glad I found this series but...
Revisado: 02-20-22
So, I'm on book 4 and I'm so ready for this mystery to be solved and a new one to start. The stories are just dragging on seems like. This book is 13 hrs and should've been 7 hrs instead. I've skipped multiple chapters to help me get through the book.
1. Violet is becoming more and more annoying, inner monologues are frustrating me
2. Every time she gets a new commission, there's something wrong with the person selling the property. This is getting tiering
3. I have a daughter, but she never ran me like her children do her. Calling her at work "Mom come home now!" She's at work!!!!!! And what's the aunt doing if she's the baby sitter while she's at work?
4. Ray either needs to be reprimanded or fired. Even with this being a fictional novel, his behavior is still too much.
5. My goodness, this book is what, 6 months in and she's almost died 3 times and we're only on book 4!!!
6. HURRY UP AND BELIEVE IN GHOSTS ALREADY!!!!! Sheesh
I've laughed while reading this book. I'm only on Chapter 19 but I'm about ready to just stop reading the series and come back to it. And where's her bestfriend?

it was Ok
Revisado: 02-01-22
I felt the first two books were better. This 3rd installment wasn't as enjoyable as the others. The story didn't hold my attention, I fell asleep while listening and didn't feel like I missed anything. 😕
I do enjoy when Frannie makes an appearance in the stories, it makes me want to go back and re-listen to the Scumbleriver Series. I think what it is, is the story sounded and felt kind of high schoolish to me. I didn't feel like there was very much "mystery" to this one. I'll give it another listen, it could be that I anticipated to much with this book.
I still enjoyed Melissa Moran as the narrator. I think she did a great job. I don't feel like she's the reason the book wasn't good, I honestly feel like it was the story itself.

Historia
Snow is not the only thing falling this December—spirits are, too. That's because this year's needlework convention in Nashville is tragically interrupted when Milwaukee shop owner Belle Hammermill tumbles nine stories to her untimely death. At first, Betsy Devonshire thinks the fall was just an unfortunate accident. The trouble is, Belle's unsavory reputation causes suspicions to flare. She has plenty of enemies with more than enough motive.

The narrator was not good. I've listened.yo this book twice and I still don't know what I listened to. I was complaining about Susan Boyce in the first 6 books. I take it back. Bring back Susan. NNEEOOWWWW lol
When the narrator said Devon-Shire I knew it wasn't going to be fun.

Heavens to Betsy Devonshire! She never intended to get so caught up in this year's antique car race. But as sponsor of one of the entrants, she can't help but keep a close eye on the outcome - and it's not pretty. One of the drivers never makes it to the finish line. His car is found exploded in flames. Now Betsy and her crafty friends must determine if it was an accident or the work of a jealous competitor. The answer may be in a piece of needlework, but pinning down a suspect won't be easy....

Didn't really care for this one
Revisado: 11-25-21
Very short review.
I did find it interesting that there was a classic car club for people who like cars from early 1900's but the long drawn out conversations was so tiresome. This series is a needle craft series but this one just didn't grab me. The best part was the end.

Best one this far
Revisado: 11-25-21
This is the best book in the series thus far. I don't care for the yammering (nonsense chattering) but I have to keep in mind that a lot of the characters are seniors so I look over that part. I enjoy how Betsy isn't smug when she helps solve a murder. She's very humble and does have a great respect for the Sr. Officer Mike Malloy, she just helps him out. She reminds me of Miss. Marple/ Angela Fletcher/ Agatha Raisin. She's very observant and knows how to sniff out the truth. Which is how she solved this mystery. By following clues that Mike Malloy failed to see, she brought to light how the murder truly happened.
Susan Boyce is a great narrator, but for some reason, this series just isn't showing how talented she is. She sounds very robotic and not very interested in the story she narrating.
Overall, I did like the story and the characters. Everyone in the story plays their part and helps make the story what it is.
Side Note: I'm a fiber crate as well. I tat (handmade lace) and counted crossstitch so I enjoy the conversation regarding the craft.

Revisado: 11-12-21
I enjoyed the series but the whiney narration is nerve wrecking. Sean Crisden's female voices were so whiney all I could do was roll my eyes. What female does he know that sounds that awful? Abby Craden's female voices are singing and they are doing itn in a hurry. I don't know. I've listened to these books multiple times and I have the same feeling about them.
I know that reading is a escape but some of the dialog was just eye rolling. Not an awful series. But there are better out there.
