Historia
Reverse Transmission is a darkly comedic story that combines elements of science fiction and dystopian thrillers, centering on a murder spree involving a self-driving car. Jay, a starving artist, gets the only day job she’s qualified for: “driver” of a self-driving car at the rideshare company Awooga. The job turns from hilariously awkward to intensely frightening when the car runs over a pedestrian and manipulates Jay into disposing the body.

Not really an audiobook.
Revisado: 11-29-23
This is more like listening to a detective tv show with the tv turned off. The “story“ consists of bits of dialogue mixed with foley sounds. It’s like the publisher tried to do something cool but it came out mediocre and confusing.

Battle after battle with a thin storyline.
Revisado: 10-13-23
The book is written go someone who is fully indoctrinated into the US military culture. There are many unexplained military(?) acronyms. The good guys kill a bunch of people and it’s great, but it’s awful when one of them gets injured or killed. I spent too much time being annoyed by this book.

Historia
Robert A. Heinlein wrote The Number of the Beast, which was published in 1980. In the book Zeb, Deety, Hilda, and Jake are ambushed by the alien "Black Hats" and barely escape with their lives on a specially configured vehicle (the Gay Deceiver) which can travel along various planes of existence, allowing them to visit parallel universes. However, unknown to most fans, Heinlein had already written a "parallel" novel about the four characters and parallel universes in 1977.

Need to read other old SciFi first?
Revisado: 09-28-23
So much of the book references old SciFi series, Barsoom and the Lensman series. I had not read either of these, so it felt like this book kept referring to things that I didn’t know about. It makes the book dry and confusing in large sections.

Historia
Fourteen-year-old Mona isn't like the wizards charged with defending the city. She can't control lightning or speak to water. Her familiar is a sourdough starter, and her magic only works on bread. She has a comfortable life in her aunt's bakery making gingerbread men dance. But Mona's life is turned upside down when she finds a dead body on the bakery floor. An assassin is stalking the streets of Mona's city, preying on magic folk, and it appears that Mona is his next target. And in an embattled city suddenly bereft of wizards, the assassin may be the least of Mona's worries.

Coming of age with Magic
Revisado: 05-05-23
The author manages to write a coming of age novel that includes magic without fallowing the expected pattern. The book is clever and clean while maintaining some grit. Both my daughter and I loved it.

Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Light fun and engaging.
Revisado: 10-07-22
Based on reading other reviews, I was expecting that the mood might be ruined by the early pandemic setting and the author’s supposed political rants. This was not the case.
The book is marked by its setting in history, but that doesn’t impact the story to a large extent. The writing was interesting and funny at times, and with enough awe and action to keep me listening longer than I had planned. Some lines literally made me laugh out loud - caution if you listen in public.
The book comes to a satisfying conclusion, but I hope the author gets around to writing a sequel sometime.

Historia
Pretty, impecunious Sally Nicholas never dreamed a fortune could prove a disadvantage, until she became an heiress and watched in bewilderment as her orderly existence went haywire. Coping first with her brother's wild theatrical ambitions, then with the defection of her fiancé and his immediate replacement by a much more appropriate but strangely unattractive suitor, Sally finds that life in New York is becoming altogether too complicated, and a trip to England only makes the whole situation worse.

A wonderful cast of characters, in interesting circumstances
Revisado: 07-15-22
I love most of P. G. Wodehouse’s books, especially when they’re read by a British gentleman with a quite adjustable voice like this one. Most of all I love the characters in these books, and this one is a fine example! There are characters I fell in love with, and others I enjoyed despising. And to make it a real story and not just biographies, this book has interesting circumstances and surprises. All together a wonderful read that I’d suggest to anybody who likes old fashioned rom-coms.

Good series, worth your time.
Revisado: 09-04-20
The authors do a great job in knitting together several storylines in a classic sci-fi what-if scenario. Of the series, I liked book 2the best, but all are worth reading. Book three ends with room for a fourth book, but it’s not available yet.

Historia
In the highly anticipated finale to the New York Times best-selling trilogy, dictators, prophets, and tensions rise. In a world that’s conquered death, will humanity finally be torn asunder by the immortal beings it created? Citra and Rowan have disappeared. Endura is gone. It seems like nothing stands between Scythe Goddard and absolute dominion over the world scythedom. With the silence of the Thunderhead and the reverberations of the Great Resonance still shaking the earth to its core, the question remains: Is there anyone left who can stop him?

Good end to a great series.
Revisado: 04-08-20
I was hesitant to buy this final book in the series due to all of the negative reviews, but I really enjoyed this story. It brought things to a close in a way that was satisfying and most of the loose ends were tied. There’s only the faintest glimmer of an opportunity for a new series afterwards.

Disappointing story
Revisado: 12-08-19
The story meanders to a lackluster conclusion. It almost gets interesting for a while, but then not. There are also several unnecessary sex scenes in a story that would have been better G rated.

Disappointing
Revisado: 08-20-19
The novel is presented as being YA, but then it starts with an unnecessary sex scene. The storyline is simple, and the characters are flat and uninteresting. The only redeeming quality was that it was free.
