Historia
Luka Darkovic has some tackling skills. He hadn’t planned on using them to bring down a runaway dog the size of a Shetland pony, especially not when his neck is already buggered. At 33, a rugby forward protects his vertebrae.... He’s even less happy when the dog’s incompetent owner turns up in his hospital cubicle the next day with a plan to fix those vertebrae. He prefers his life simple and his neurosurgeons drama-free. And definitely less distracting.

If you like RJ, give this a listen
Revisado: 09-16-21
I love almost all of James's books and have read every one, but this was not my favorite. You can tell she did a lot of research to fit all the information into the book which is great, but this book was just too long and at times confusing, Lots of flashbacks and there was a whole subplot that could have been left out. This book was 19 hrs 10 mins. That's over 3 hours longer than the next longest book in the series and it's her longest book she's released. I really enjoyed the way she brought characters from past books back. I would have enjoyed the story more if it were at around an 8-9 hour story.
Trigger/content warnings in the beginning would have been preferred for me. Also, the scenes that would have made the content warnings necessary didn't actually add to the story in my opinion (ie, fatphobia).
Emma Wilder did a good job.
This book is not a romcom. If you want to read a very (very, very) detailed book about 2 people where you know they get together in the end, I would recommend it.
The spice levels were fine.

Historia
When discipline is your life, structure’s a good thing, and Owen Johnson’s got plenty of both. An All-Pro NFL center who’s also a cattle rancher? Yeah, that’s structure. His marriage didn’t work out, but then, he picked the wrong woman. A Wyoming ranch doesn’t look nearly as romantic up close. Not to a model, anyway. Next time, he’ll choose better. Not, for example, a 19-year-old ball of fire like Dyma Cardello, who’s just starting on her own journey. To become an astronautical engineer. After about five years of schooling. Which she’s focused on like, well, a rocket.

Dyma and Owen's story was alright
Revisado: 06-15-21
Rosalind James is one of the top authors on my favorites list. That being said...
Would I read/listen to this book if you like Rosalind James? Yes, absolutely.
Would I read it more than once? Ehhh maybe if I wanted to go back through the series at some point.
Is this the first book from Rosalind James that you should read? No. I recommend reading these in order.
This story continues with Dyma and Owen's story. While the age difference is not THAT weird, it felt weird. The characters are 19 and 25 respectively, but the characters didn't act their age. The story is great, but my biggest problem was the choices they made weren't the way a 19 or 25 year old would act. It felt like someone who hasn't been to college in a while wrote about a college experience. Normally in James' books, the characters would make choices that make sense for the situation they were in. This book I couldn't really make sense in my head of the choices they would make and how it made sense. Sorry if that's weird or confusing-sounding. I'm trying not to include any spoilers, but this is biggest thing that's bothered me. The story itself is alright, the writing is top notch, the performance is out of this world, but some elements weren't clicking for me like they normally do with characters.

Historia
Harlan Kristiansen may not be good at many things, but he can sure catch a pass. He’s an All-Pro at charming a room, too, and then there’s that Norse God thing. He can even figure out how to tackle a woman and save her from a charging bison. On skis. What happens when you drop that game-winning pass, though, and your house is too big, too weird, and too empty? When your dad’s a mean drunk, your mom took off a long time ago and stayed gone, and all your money can’t keep your little sister safe? You fall back on what you know, that’s what.

Revisado: 02-22-21
I really enjoyed this book, especially since the characters are around my age and it felt somewhat relatable (I’m not a rich football star so I can’t relate to that).
The story was really rich with drama and emotion. I enjoyed going on the journey with Jennifer and Harland. I also enjoyed the bits about Owen and Dyma.
This book felt a little spicier than her past books and Emma Wilder did an excellent job of voice acting. I can’t wait for the next book from the author!

People who say “love is trust” probably didn’t grow up in a cult. My name is Daisy Nabhitha Kittredge. I chose it myself. As an RN in the emergency department in one of New Zealand’s largest hospitals, there wasn’t much left in me of the 16-year-old girl, covered from neck to ankle and not allowed to make eye contact with a boy, who’d run away with five dollars in her pocket and terror in her heart.

Wow. This was such a great reading experience. I don't know why I get surprised every time I read a book from Rosalind James, but it's great and this is why she's my favorite author. The voice acting is also amazing. When I heard that this book was going to have something about a cult in it, I was all for it. The main heroine is this amazingly strong woman that escaped from a cult (that doesn't exist in real life) and she runs into Gray. It becomes this whirlwind of trying to save her and her sisters and this magnetic attraction between them. I liked how there characters feel so real and any fan of Rosalind James or romance will love this book.

State of my professional life: Brilliant, if counted in terms of sales of eight Poppy Cantwell children's books starring my often-confused blue hippo, Hazel; the very substantial proceeds from selling my Kiwi Adventures New Zealand glamping business; and any number of glossy magazine articles about my charmed existence. Of course, I couldn't seem to write or draw anymore, but that would pass. Surely.

Loved this love story
Revisado: 05-19-20
I really like how this was a unique story. The characters were complex, but they went together well. There was so much imagery and it feels like i know what it's like to live in New Zealand. I still appreciate that this series comes from a book within a book.... very meta. But the story is great.
My only issue is with particular characters, as if they were actual people, lol. James wrote very realistic and believable people, and that's one of the reasons that i love her books.
The narrating was awesome! James always gets the best narrators for her books. I know Tom Janson is new to her stories and he did an A PLUS PLUS job.
Fans of James' work will be pleased and new fans are in for a treat!

Historia
Christmas means summer in New Zealand and All Blacks wedding season, too. Plans made and plans changed, because no matter how well you plan, life happens. Especially if, say, you’re marrying your late husband’s brother, you’ve got a couple of kids in the mix, and everybody’s talked too much about all that already. And then, there’s the rest of the family. A stepbrother who’s carried too big a secret for 30 years and needs to lay that burden down.

Christmas reunion!
Revisado: 03-09-20
This was a Christmas reunion with characters from the last few books and some of the earlier books.
I have to say this. EMMA WILDER WAS FANTASTIC. I’m so grateful that I get to listen to her performance. Doing an accent is hard, but she did different voices for everyone and there were quite a few characters in this one.
The only criticism I have is that for a listening experience, it was a lot of people to keep track of. I hadn’t read the books in a while and it would have been nice to do a quick synopsis of what each couple’s story before going into this one. I eventually remembered but it was like my brain was trying to catch up. Reading it (with my eyes) was a better for me to keep track of the whole cast of characters.
Overall this was a great book that tackled some issues in a very respectful, loving way. I loved we got to see the stories progress in one book, but I would definitely make sure to listen to this book right after the others next read/listen-through.
Loved this book!

You don’t find many too-pretty rich boys in the New Zealand Defense Force. Turns out there’s a reason for that. Fortunately, you can find your true self in the oddest places. Of course, you can lose yourself in those places, too - at least some pieces of you. Since I was back home with a new leg, some facial alterations, and time on my hands, I might as well help out my sister. Showing a buyer around New Zealand’s ecotourism sites, having a few adrenaline-fueled adventures? Fine. It wasn’t like I’d never been camping, unlike the walking tornado that was Miss Karen Sinclair.

Kiwi has sexy rules ;)
Revisado: 07-17-19
So this wasn’t my favorite book but I definitely enjoyed it. The story was great. I really liked the characters. Jax sounds super hot. Karen sounds like a fun, like-able gal.
The biggest problem I had was the 2 narrators. Individually, they were both perfect. But when Hartley was narrating Karen, she sounded like her personality was annoying. But when Wilder narrated, Karen sounded “normal.” It was just a weird nit picky inconsistency that I noticed that no one else may notice but that was honestly the only part of the book I had a minor issue with.
Otherwise, pretty good story. I really enjoyed Jax’s POV and he was super hot but still had insecurities but was still manly and confident.

Historia
Rhys Fletcher is not in love with his sister-in-law. That would be a very, very bad idea, and he doesn’t entertain bad ideas. He also doesn’t lie to himself. Both of those things can’t be true, so he’ll do what he’s done since the long-ago night when his brother, Dylan, turned up in an Auckland bar after a brutal rugby match between their two teams, and introduced his new girlfriend - a dark-eyed, much-too-young girl named Zora. He’ll lie. Now, his brother’s gone, and Rhys is back in New Zealand and settling into his new job as the head coach of the Auckland Blues

This is the latest book in Rosalind James’ Escape to NZ series. You can just jump right in. Each books is a great stand alone.
I have to say, I’ve been out of the reading loop for a while and with this, I got sucked right back in. This was such a fun, fantastic listen. The story was complex and the characters were so well developed, you understand them like you know them.
Some of the hottest love scenes. Phew.
I really enjoyed this book and if you love romance, you’re sure to love this book.

Brett Hunter’s life isn’t unicorns and rainbows, and it sure isn’t sparkles. He’s a businessman, a disciplined man, a money man, and if he ever believed in magic, it was a long time ago. He’s not a hero, and he doesn't play one on TV. Oh, and he really doesn't like the water. What’s he doing, then, on an Australian beach in a custom-made Italian suit, up to his waist in the waves and helping a red-haired mermaid save the day?

Revisado: 12-13-18
This book is so great. It’s a good stand alone book if you havent read the first 2. I really liked how Willow and Brett interacted and complemented each other. Even with their age difference.
The love scenes were probably some of the steamiest I’ve read from a Rosalind James book and I am NOT mad about.
I enjoyed it being set in Australia as well as in several US Cities. The mystery aspect was fun and conflict resolution was great. It should a lot of character growth, individually and the couple together.

Rafe Blackstone may play the sexiest werewolf superhero to ever melt a woman's...heart...on the big screen, but Lily Hollander has already been bitten once by an actor, and once was enough. When she's fooled all over again, it's time to put that wayward heart in lockdown mode, especially once Rafe starts aiming his overprotective streak at her identical twin. Lily may seem like the softer side of the twinship, but nobody messes with her sister.

Revisado: 07-27-18
This book was so much fun! I really enjoyed the first book in the series and this second one didn’t disappoint. It really liked how it dealt with how people aren’t always what they seem. Like Rafe wasn’t an arrogant mean guy and Lily got a chance to find that out and heal from her own problems.
I always love Rosalind James books because they still have that happy ending, but it’s always an interesting and unique journey.
The narration was also fantastic! The voice actress really captures the essence of each character and does accents really well.
