Very well read. I especially enjoyed the well-used descriptive adjectives throughout the book on any and all topics. This painted a very clear picture for the listener. The author pulls no punches in describing lash, ship, or people.

Historia
Gene Kranz was present at the creation of America's manned space program and was a key player in it for three decades. As a flight director in NASA's Mission Control, Kranz witnessed firsthand the making of history. He participated in the space program from the early days of the Mercury program to the last Apollo mission, and beyond. He endured the disastrous first years when rockets blew up and the United States seemed to fall further behind the Soviet Union in the space race.

Captivating
Revisado: 05-22-23
The detail and emotion Flight Kranz includes very often made it feel as though I was in the Mission Control Center with him and his team, as well as the other teams. I appreciate the struggles, successes, and significance of what this group of pioneers provided for all of our futures. Think about what these pioneers accomplished and the tools, they often had to create, they had to use in their time. How could they have been SO successful seeing the technology we have today. Geri, determination, the will to not let down the person next to you.
Thank you Flight Kranz for taking the time to let us into your world for a while.

In 1942, America's deadliest fighter pilot, or "ace of aces" - the legendary Eddie Rickenbacker - offered a bottle of bourbon to the first US fighter pilot to break his record of 26 enemy planes shot down. Seizing on the challenge to motivate his men, General George Kenney promoted what they would come to call the "race of aces" as a way of boosting the spirits of his war-weary command.

The story allows us to know the Aces a but more intimately. Towards the end, I was able to predict the tactics the Aces were going to use in their dog fight. How many of the Aces comes to see the end of life is sad yet poignant. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Based on exhaustive research that included many exclusive interviews, Apollo tells how America went from a standing start to a landing on the moon at a speed that now seems impossible. It describes the unprecedented engineering challenges that had to be overcome to create the mammoth Saturn V and the facilities to launch it. It takes you into the tragedy of the fire on Apollo 1, the first descent to the lunar surface, and the rescue of Apollo 13.

I can think of a dozen people off the top of my head that NEED to read this book. The book is a well planned and laid out learn how to communicate appropriately and effectively book. If you want people to really "hear" what you are saying, you have to get them to listen to you. Dr. Thompson gives us the tools to do just that and makes it easy to understand. I will be reading this book several more times- this art takes practice! An unconscious competent I am not. Thank you Dr. Thompson.

Couldn't Stop Listening
Revisado: 07-09-19
No filters here. E.B. Sledge wrote this with his emotions on his sleeve. This book is narrated superbly as well. This is a book that needed to be written. You can feel the misery and agony then men went through and smell the smells they endured throughout the book. You can't help but tear up for these men once you understand the horrendous conditions they had to survive in and the deplorable things they needed to do in order to survive. Thank you E.B. for sharing your story with us. As Americans we should never forget, and be most thankful for, the sacrifices that were made by our Armed Forces in all wars and conflicts America has participated in.

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

This book is another example of why the veterans of WW II are called the greatest generation. I encourage our education system to require this book to be part of our American History lessons. The story is educational and eye opening..
