Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

A sad childhood
Revisado: 12-21-24
The story was written well and the narrator read it well. A tough life starting from childhood, described in detail for hour after hour. I hope there was a happy ending. I couldn’t finish. After 15 hours of depressing hard life happenings, getting his girlfriend pregnant at 17, was breaking point. I simply didn’t relate to the story, time or place.
Sincerely hope this is a complete fiction and not based a anyone’s actual life.

Difficult start
Revisado: 02-12-24
Didn’t get hooked, couldn’t hold my interest. Missing character development, possibly the book would have gotten better, reviews were good but I was in the mood for a story. Next!

I could not wait for the end
Revisado: 09-21-23
Short story took too long to finish. Skipped several chapters and the plot hadn’t moved ahead. The narrator is the best so I listened much longer than I would have.

Historia
In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

A Quest
Revisado: 06-03-23
Just the start of a quest. As we movie into different scenes the Gunslinger is out to save the world. A world of decay. This book doesn’t stand on its own. I found the story, maybe good over evil, Gos vs Satin. Too soon to be 100% sure as we are on a quest. Strange but compelled me to go on even when “strange” was all there was. Expect to listen to the next in the series.

Historia
In retreat from a devastating loss and crushing injustice, Katie lives alone in a fortresslike stone house on Jacob’s Ladder island. Once a rising star in the art world, she finds refuge in her painting. The neighboring island of Ringrock houses a secret: a government research facility. And now two agents have arrived on Jacob’s Ladder in search of someone—or something—they refuse to identify. Although an air of menace hangs over these men, an infinitely greater threat has arrived, one so strange even the island animals are in a state of high alarm.

Government Coverup?
Revisado: 02-23-23
I hoped for a sci-fi or at least a horror story. What I read was too much about escaping a tragedy, withdrawing from the world and possible paranoia. There were aliens from outer space but the story was about? I’m not sure what the plot was? Escaping from the government trying to kill anyone who knew. Our heroine and a teenager know too much. Spoiler alert, the aliens were forgotten. The government was going to kill the girls. They got away. I guess the alien problem was contained and all traces of a governmental lab were destroyed. Yeah!

Historia
Four years ago, LAPD detective Harry Bosch was on a movie set, asking questions about the murder of a young production assistant, when an armored car arrived with $2 million cash for use in a heist scene. In a life-imitates-art firestorm, a gang of masked men converged on the delivery and robbed the armored car with guns blazing. The crime was never resolved, and the young woman's murder was in the stack of unsolved-case files Bosch carried home the night he left the LAPD.

Fine, it is fine
Revisado: 01-13-23
I don’t enjoy Harry solving crime. Neatly tied up in a knot, low life characters, murders, criminals etc. Having lived in LA for several years, brings back memories. More interested in where the story unfolds. Excellently read!
