Revisado: 12-07-18
couldn't finish it. I know it's an unpopular opinion but it just didn't grab me. i usually like this genre of scifi and dystopian theology, but I just could not get into it. I guess they can't all be winners.

no pendergast besides auberjonois!
Revisado: 07-23-18
this is where the pendergast series really takes off and gets its footing. my only complaint is that these other readers can't do pendergasts honey bourbon drawl like rene auberjonois! Scott brick will do, but listening to the whole series from the beginning...again...the first several narrators leave something to be desired.

disappointed
Revisado: 03-28-15
I couldn't even finish. I still have just under 3 hours left and I won't be spending that time with this book. I was a fan of the Atlantis trilogy and was eager to get my hands on this but it was a watered down ripoff of wayward pines and every other generic sci-fi premise novel. I will not ruin the plot for others if they still choose to read. I simply was not drawn in and by the time the climax was starting I was completely bored and slightly miffed at the obviousness of the plot. sorry. audible and I are usually good partners. this one was a dud for me. I hope Riddle will continue writing and maybe this is just one that didn't send me.

Historia
In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

grand novel of romance and adventure...
Revisado: 01-21-13
Where does Atlas Shrugged rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
its my second favorite book of all time, and as far as audio version goes, definitely in my top five.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Atlas Shrugged?
i wouldnt want to spoil it for new listeners. i do have my very own rearden metal bracelet though...
What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?
scott brick is an excellent narrator, but i find him to be rather slow sometimes, so i love the function on the audible app that allows you to speed up the narrator. i usually listen at 1.5 times normal speed, so it doesnt go slow like ben stein...bueller? bueller?
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
if the weight of the world was on your shoulders, wouldnt you shrug?
Any additional comments?
this is a fantastic novel full of epic idealized characters. these are archetypes of heroic figures we should strive to be like. the philosophy embedded in the novel is something that desperately needs to be examined and put into practice for the real world. there are real world current issues that mirror a book a russian immigrant wrote over fifty years ago. it was prophetic then and coming true now. its an excellent novel at face value, but the deeper meaning is intriguing as well.

Would you listen to Last to Die again? Why?
yes. to see if there were clues i missed as to the ending
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
vengeance and money are powerful motivators
Any additional comments?

Revisado: 04-29-12
Where does Still Life with Crows rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
3rd of all time
What other book might you compare Still Life with Crows to and why?
no compare for me
Have you listened to any of Rene Auberjonois’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I will listen to anything he narrates, and i have so far....he is wonderful as Pendergast, as always.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Pendergast saves Cora from small town life and gives her the opportunity to make something of herself....makes me cry everytime!
Any additional comments?
another hit out of the park for Preston, Child, Auberjonois and Pendergast himself

Historia
In lower Manhattan, a charnel pit of horror is uncovered: the remains of 36 people murdered and gruesomely dismembered over 130 years ago by an unknown serial killer. Just as a museum archaeologist and an enigmatic FBI agent begin to unravel the clues to the killings, a fresh spree of copy-cat murders and surgical mutilation erupts around them. Mixing science and terror in a way only they can, Preston and Child deliver a novel that's as gruesome as it is enthralling.
