Three friends, women in their fifties, set out to hike "the most beautiful long-distance trail in the world," the John Muir Trail. Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

This is a book that if you get it, you get it. Some ppl will relate and some won't. If you relate, it is worth listening to. I related to some but not all of her story and it made me feel less alone in having a dysfunctional mother.
Her narration is a slight adjustment at first if you listen to a lot of audible books, but I had an appreciation for it too. She narrated as her authentic self. There wasn't an animated, dramatic, performance narration. She simply told her story.
She should be proud for finding herself and accepting herself. I hope her future is full of peace and happiness.

5 Stars Isn't Enough
Revisado: 10-09-20
This was my third book on dementia this week and has been the most inspiring and touching. The author/narrator has a soothing voice that takes you on a journey through her experiences with individuals with dementia, both professional and personal.
My journey is just beginning and this book has opened up an entirely new realm for me to engage my dad. There are so many activities I'm planning to do with him now and I'm eagerly looking forward to his stories and smiles. I truly believe both our lives will be more enjoyable and enriched by using the ideas in this book.
An added benefit is I think it will also help me interact with my mother, which has been very difficult for most of my adult life.
I am so thankful for this book.

Historia
Providing dementia care is profoundly stressful for families and caregivers. People with dementia or Alzheimer’s experience emotional distress, which leads to behavioral complications and the need for institutional care. However, if families and caregivers are able to identify the emotional needs caused by dementia and understand which skills are lost and which remain, they can lower the behavioral complications and their own stress.

Narrator's voice was excellent for this book.
The book itself was good for some quick information on dementia but I was looking for more in depth knowledge and tips.

needs better narrator
Revisado: 01-05-18
I REALLY wanted to listen to this book but the narrator ruined it. His voice is monotone, which was tolerable. When he mispronounced Quantico in the first chapter, that was just too much. I decided to return the book. I almost missed it though because his version of Quantico was so far from correct.
