Great story poor narration
Revisado: 01-06-22
The narrator must had a cold or something because her breathing was pronounced, laboured and nasal. The story is great so I sped the narration up and couldn’t wait to see how it finished.

Historia
Want to be immortal? You can be in AD 2110. Just go to the Hereafter Insurance Corporation and hook yourself up to the Machine. There’s nothing to fear. That is, if it happens to be working right, and if nobody slips another mind into your body when you’re not looking, and if you’re not on a poltergeist hatelist.

Meh
Revisado: 12-21-21
The book is adequately narrated but the story whilst interesting in premise is poorly executed. It seems to meander from one diatribe to another… it became listening for the background and I was not invested in the characters which are poorly developed throughout the story.

In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter.

No…. Just no
Revisado: 11-12-21
I like Neil Gaiman’s writing but this story just seemed forced. It was disjointed and unnecessarily long winded.
I couldn’t finish but that had more to do with the dramatization… I dislike this as a format and in this book it was even more terrible than normal.
So disappointed….

Even John's girlfriend, Maggie, has no idea he's really a CIA spook recruited in Afghanistan and assigned to kill enemies on US soil. Worst book ever....
Revisado: 04-21-21
I am no fan of Paul Christie (I am convinced he is the reason we can listen at faster speeds), putting aside his painful narration I still like to try the books he narrates because the stories can still be good enough to pull through. NOT IN THIS CASE... this story is derivative with so much useless information; irrelevant social commentary posing as witty banter and a gross overuse of adjectives that if one were to cut through the nonsense the book would be halved.
I am truly glad this was free because I would be seriously annoyed if I had actually spent money on it.

For 155 days, Will Foster has been locked in medical quarantine without his consent. The doctors claim he is infected with a deadly virus, but this is a lie. Against all odds, Foster escapes his laboratory prison and steals a virulent strain of bubonic plague as insurance. To help him unravel the mystery inside him, Foster contacts the only person he can trust - a former lover and microbiologist living Vienna - and the two become fugitives.

Horrible narration, average story

I had to listen at 1.4x speed because the narrator is simply awful.
The story has so much potential but is all too predictable and at borders on ridiculous at times.

I enjoyed the story as I do with most Cold War books. The narrator is good BUT there are parts where he audibly takes breaths before reading and it can be distracting.

Historia
The tide is turning against the colonists in the Revolutionary War, and 18-year-old Elizabeth Morris cannot sit by idly. Quietly disdainful of her Tory parents, who drag her along to society events and welcome a British soldier into their home during their occupation of New York City, Elizabeth decides to take matters into her own hands. She realizes that, as a young woman, no one around her believes that she can comprehend the profound implications of being a nation at war - she is, effectively, invisible. And she can use this invisibility to her advantage.

Weak and void of substance
Revisado: 07-22-20
This pseudo historical short story has the makings of a good spy novel spoiled by weak romance novel. It is predictable and void of substance.
As a personal note I am not a fan of the narrator. This is a subjective leaning. The attempts at different voices and worse the attempts at accents is very poor.

I love this series of novels but the narrator is simply awful. His accents are especially terrible and way off the mark. This read by RC Bray would be phenomenal.
