Historia
Historians have long puzzled over the apparent mental instability of great and terrible leaders alike: Napoleon, Lincoln, Churchill, Hitler, and others. In A First-Rate Madness, Nassir Ghaemi, director of the Mood Disorders Program at Tufts Medical Center, offers a myth-shattering exploration of the powerful connections between mental illness and leadership and sets forth a controversial, compelling thesis: The very qualities that mark those with mood disorders also make for the best leaders in times of crisis.

Historia
Words. We use them all the time, every day, mostly without giving them much thought at all. We take for granted that they’re here at our disposal whenever we need them. But if you’ve ever wished you could communicate more effectively, words are the place to start. It’s incumbent upon you to choose the best words to accomplish your goals, because how you choose to communicate influences—well, everything! The power of communication shapes our professional goals, our relationships, and our lives—so the words we choose to use carry a great deal of power.

Good title, bad book
Revisado: 09-09-22
Expected to hear words that make a difference. Instead, heard theories and fluff. Including "what is a dictionary" and whether it's role should be "descriptive" or "prescriptive". Who cares? Maybe complete beginners can get something out of this. After 3 hours, I still can't.

Starts a bit theoretical and boring, but the last 3-4 chapters really bring it home in a practical way, with examples of talks and more.

A masterpiece
Revisado: 08-21-16
Reading the book title, description, and comments, I expected a collection of shady tips for dishonest success. Instead, I found a well tought out book, full of historical examples. The structure is good. The logic is good. I agree with other reviewers: I don't plan on using many of the "laws" presented in this book, but I'm glad I'm more aware of them now.

Any additional comments?
I rarely review books. Been in business since 2007. Don't learn much these days from business books. At some point they become all the same. I learned a bunch of stuff listening to this book. The author's experience and insight really shines through. This book has been recommended by a friend. I'll be recommending it to other friends, too.
