Historia
The TARDIS arrives in Gaul in AD 451, on the eve of battle between the forces of Attila the Hun and those of the crumbling Roman Empire. But the Doctor soon finds that both sides are being helped by sinister supernatural creatures. While Graham makes allies in the Roman camp and Ryan is pursued by the enigmatic Legion of Smoke, the Doctor and Yasmin are pressed into service as Attila’s personal sorcerers. But the Doctor knows there is science behind the combat magicks - and that the true war will pit all humanity against a ruthless alien threat.

Mandip narration!
Revisado: 01-30-25
I have the physical copy as well as the audio and I have to say the audio version is so worth it because Mandip narrates. The first five minutes is basically her talking about how gorgeous Yaz is, which I find amusing.

Excellent world-building

Years later, I still remember how much I loved the world-building in this book. I could visualize it so perfectly in my mind and it felt so richly-developed and interesting.

Fear stalks the land, and the arrival of King James I only serves to intensify the witch hunt. But the Doctor soon realises there is something more sinister than paranoia and superstition at work. Worth It
Revisado: 04-10-21
A beautiful expansion upon the television episode. We get to be inside the Doctor’s head during her revelations about seeing the universe through the eyes of a woman. We get to hear more about Yaz and Izzy. We get a moment with Graham. Ryan and the king are a treat. We also learn Becca’s origin story. We learn about the Morax, who imprisoned them, why and how. We also learn about what happens to Willa. Sophie Alfred narrating was just the icing on the cake!

Historia
Hannah's a witch, but not the kind you're thinking of. She's an Elemental with the power to control fire, earth, water, and air. But even though she lives in Salem, MA, her magic is a secret she has to keep to herself. So, Hannah spends most of her time avoiding her ex-girlfriend (and fellow Elemental Witch) Veronica, hanging out with her best friend, and working at the Fly by Night Cauldron selling candles and crystals to tourists, goths, and local Wiccans. Then evidence of dark magic begins to appear all over Salem, and Hannah's sure it's the work of a deadly Blood Witch.

I wish this book existed when I was in high school. It sucked me in more than any book since Harry Potter. The narration by Kristen Dimercurio was amazing. I felt myself gripping to every word. I need more of this story. The WORLD needs more of this affirming and magical tale of LGBT+ witches.

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Voldemore and more
Revisado: 03-23-16
If you could sum up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Book 1 in three words, what would they be?
Magic, love, friendship
What other book might you compare Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Book 1 to and why?
I cannot think of a singular book that can stand up to this novel.
Which character – as performed by Jim Dale – was your favorite?
As performed by Jim Dale, I suppose it would be Harry who always pronounced Voldemort with a nice audible "t" at the end, even though Jim Dale always said "Voldemore" for the rest, which can be annoying when you've been reading/saying/hearing Voldemort for 15 years.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cringed when certain names and words were pronounced incorrectly/differently than I am used to. Hermione (understandably) and Voldemort being the most pronounced. Otherwise, I enjoyed his intonation and portrayal of the characters.
Any additional comments?
While the pronunciations are jarring and bring me out of the story, the story itself is absolutely fantastic and definitely worth a read (or 500).

Where does Pirates! rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the best.

I wish there were more female pirate novels like this-- perhaps one about Anne Bonny?

Historia
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Bittersweet, but Beautiful

Which scene was your favorite?
“You should see it. V for Vendetta I mean." ~Augustus

"No. With Me. At my house. Now” ~Augustus

Historia
I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare, pushing aside thoughts of Alex, pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school, push, push, push, like Raven taught me to do. The old life is dead. But the old Lena is dead too. I buried her.I left her beyond a fence, behind a wall of smoke and flame. Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bests eller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

Wonderful!
Revisado: 03-18-13
Would you listen to Pandemonium again? Why?
Yes. The story was well crafted and the performance was the best of any audiobook i've heard.
What other book might you compare Pandemonium to and why?
Delirium, its predecessor, as the entire trilogy is well done.
Have you listened to any of Sarah Drew’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, the previous two in this trilogy, which are also great.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Off the top of my head, "how far would you go to have the right to choose, even if you choose the wrong thing?"
Any additional comments?
I thought it was a wonderful performance and trilogy. Well done!
