Not his best book
Revisado: 05-10-12
First of all, "where is Dick Hill"? This narrator does a decent job but I purchased this book being it was next in line from a series I have listened to and enjoyed, in large part to Dick Hill's narration. I never looked at the narrator, wrongfully assuming it would be Hill. Oh Well... The story itself was OK but nowhere close to previous books in the series. Hoping the next in the series returns to form.

Very Odd
Revisado: 10-14-11
The story isn't all that bad but in the hundreds of audiobooks I have listened to I never heard one narrated like this one. There is no narrator listed and it sounds as if computer generated voices were used to narrate this book. The editing is horrible and a credit should not be wasted on this book.

Historia
Behind the well-known U.S. security organizations - the FBI and CIA among them - lies a heavily guarded, anonymous government agency dedicated to intelligence surveillance and to a highly specialized brand of citizen protection. Shock waves of alarm ripple through the clandestine agency when Washington, D.C., police detective Ryan Kessler inexplicably becomes the target of Henry Loving, a seasoned, ruthless “lifter” hired to obtain information using whatever means necessary.

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-05-11
I like Deaver's previous work and this book may be his best work ever but it's impossible to tell due to awful narration. The story was interesting enough to finish the book but just barely. Not only is the robotic delivery of this narrator bad but as others have said in previous reviews he pronounces "weapon" as wheppon and "rear" as rare. So not only bad but also annoying. If you buy this book you will beg for Dick Hill or Scott Brick within 20 minutes of listening.

This one's a Winner
Revisado: 09-04-09
I find myslef purchasing books I have never heard about from authors I know nothing about soley due to the narrator (in this case Dick Hill). This story was different, an interesting take on a typical theme (a reversal of roles). I found it very enjoyable... I have downloaded the remaining books by this author and hope they stand up to his first effort.

Historia
"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says ( Publishers Weekly).

Great Book
Revisado: 07-29-09
Excellent story lines, excellent narration. This book has a great mix of fiction mixed in with historical reality. For those who enjoy in depth plot lines with twists and turns you will love this book. Don't let the length of this book scare you off. I never found it to drag on and was disappointed that it had to end.

Historia
Forced out of the Los Angeles Times amid the latest budget cuts, newspaperman Jack McEvoy decides to go out with a bang, using his final days at the paper to write the definitive murder story of his career. He focuses on Alonzo Winslow, a 16-year-old drug dealer in jail after confessing to a brutal murder. But as he delves into the story, Jack realizes that Winslow's so-called confession is bogus. The kid might actually be innocent.

Good Book but....
Revisado: 06-29-09
I enjoyed this latest novel by Connelly, and rate it about 3.5. Good story with some decent twists and turns; bringing some old characters back from his previous novels. It is however a notch or so below some of his previous works, i.e. the Lincoln Lawyer, some of the Bosch novels, and even the Poet. I thought the narrator did an above average job and I did get through the book quite quickly. Connelly apparently has a fascination with technology as evidenced by both this book and one of his previous efforts "Chasing the Dime" which I find only interesting to a point. Luckily, the Scarecrow used the technology angle more sparingly than Chasing the Dime as that book was by far my least favorite of Connelly's efforts. Worth a listen but as I have stated before, check out some of the books listed above if you like this book as I felt they were superior in both plot line and character development...

A new world order is taking shape. Only one man can stop it. Pray that he will succeed. The Prometheus Deception is classic Ludlum - a world of murderous wheels within wheels where nothing and no one are what they appear, and violence and sudden death lurk around every corner. Also available abridged.

I don't get it
Revisado: 03-27-09
I know there are a lot of Ludlum fans out there but I don't see why. Sure, he has interesting plot lines and action throughout but he falls in love with his own words. I LOVE longer, detail heavy, unabridged books; however the level of detail and choice of words in this and some of his other books just lead me to abandon the books midway through. The choice of narrator may be a factor in my loss of interest but all in all not my cup of tea.

The messages waiting for Henry Pierce when he plugs in his new phone clearly aren't intended for him. They indicate something has gone terribly wrong for a woman named Lilly. Pierce probes, investigates, and then tumbles through a hole, leaving behind a life driven by work to track down and help a woman he's never met. Connelly's latest is "a grabber from the beginning...utterly compelling."

Worst of Connelly's novels
Revisado: 12-08-08
I have listened to all of Connelly's books and by far I found this one to be a radical departure from his other works. I loved the Lincoln Lawyer and the Bosch series is always enjoyable but this book failed to hold my interest. I look for a few things: Good plot development, good character development and hopefully enough twists and turns to hold my interest. This one didn't have any of those in my opinion. If this is the first book you have read (listened to) by this author don't judge him on this one. Try ANY of the others and you will more satisfied.

One of Baldacci's better books
Revisado: 12-06-08
I liked the story, characters and narration. This book was fast paced, action packed and filled with twists and turns (although some were perdictable). Web London would make a good character for a series of books much like Mitch Rapp in Vince Flynn's novels. If you like the Rapp series you will enjoy this one.
