Historia
We are about to cross a critical threshold in the history of our species. Everything is about to change. Soon we will live surrounded by AIs. They will carry out complex tasks-operating businesses, producing unlimited digital content, running core government services and maintaining infrastructure. This will be a world of DNA printers and quantum computers, engineered pathogens and autonomous weapons, robot assistants and abundant energy. It represents nothing less than a step change in human capability. We are not prepared.

Historia
For generations, everything has been getting faster, better, and cheaper. Finally, we reached the point that almost anything you could ever want could be sent to your home within days - even hours - of when you decided you wanted it. America made that happen, but now America has lost interest in keeping it going.

The future is definitely not what it used to be
Revisado: 08-27-22
I view the world today through widely travelled but mainly South African eyes where already the early signs of a world in radical change are evident. At 82 I was fortunate to have lived through the best of times. They are over. If you want to know where and why the world is moving inexorably to a new state and what it will mean for you and your family then read or listen to this book. You may not agree with all the author's reasoning but draw your own conclusions. You will struggle to find a more complete, more prescient view.

Historia
Scott Adams was one of the earliest public figures to predict Donald Trump’s election. The mainstream media regarded Trump as a lucky clown, but Adams - best known as “the guy who created Dilbert” - recognized a level of persuasion you only see once in a generation. We’re hardwired to respond to emotion, not reason, and Trump knew exactly which emotional buttons to push. The point isn’t whether Trump was right or wrong, good or bad. Adams goes beyond politics to look at persuasion tools that can work in any setting - the same ones Adams saw in Steve Jobs.

NLP on steroids
Revisado: 10-31-17
Very well written and told in the droll but amusing way of the Dilbert character! If you hate Donald Trump you'll discover why he won. If you love him then you'll discover why he won. But much more importantly you'll discover that feelings come first and trump facts every time!

Historia
In American on Purpose, Craig Ferguson delivers a moving and achingly funny memoir of living the American dream as he journeys from the mean streets of Glasgow, Scotland, to the comedic promised land of Hollywood. Along the way, he stumbles through several attempts to make his mark - as a punk rock musician, a construction worker, a bouncer, and, tragically, a modern dancer.

Current global trends are bleak: weak economic growth, too much debt, declining incomes for the lower 99 percent, a dangerous addiction to fossil fuels, and ecological destruction - just to name a few. Many of us understandably feel resigned to an eroding standard of living in the years to come. At best. But what if we told you that there are specific attainable steps you can take today that can limit your vulnerability to these trends and help you be richer, healthier, and happier?

Historia
Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook of The Road to Ruin, written and read by James Rickards. The global economy has made what seems like an incredible comeback after the financial crisis of 2008. Yet this comeback is artificial. Central banks have propped up markets by keeping interest rates low and the supply of money free-flowing. They won't bail us out again next time. And there will be a next time...soon.

Almost (but not quite) beyond belief
Revisado: 01-05-17
If you could sum up The Road to Ruin in three words, what would they be?
Tomorrow's world Today
What other book might you compare The Road to Ruin to and why?
On the Beach - Neville Shute
What about James Rickards’s performance did you like?
Quietly lucid and easy to listen to
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Well researched and support insights on every page from someone deep inside the world of money and currency (you'll soon discover the difference) I constantly had to remind myself that Ian Fleming's James Bond could not have done a better job - main;t because that was fiction. If you want the history of the banking system it's here
Any additional comments?
Fascinating.
