I always say I like the Berkley Street series the best, but Haunted Collection just keeps getting better! It may become my new favorite soon. As usual, the character development is excellent as we get to know everyone more. Victor has moved beyond revenge against Stephan and is actively trying to help those who are in danger from the haunted objects. Relationships are also becoming much more complex and interesting as Arianna and Victor begin working more closely together. Tom is growing up too and learning to take care of himself. I love the addition of the Fey in this story and hope to hear more from Leanne. I'm also very interested in Anne LaMorte and what she has planned. Definitely can't wait for the next book! I highly recommend all Ron Ripley's series.

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of the narrator. I'm sure Mr. Bowers is well liked by many, but he's not to my taste. Unfortunately for me, he narrates all of Ron Ripley's stories. With that said, I have listened to every Ron Ripley book so far and I LOVE them! His story lines are engrossing, the characters are interesting and likeable, and there is usually some twist that I didn't see coming! I don't have much time to read these days, but I make time for Mr. Ripley's stories. Having them on audio is a bonus when I just can't wait to read it myself. I highly recommend anything by this author. My favorite series is still Berkley Street but man, I sure do enjoy the Haunted Collection series too!

This is the third story I've listened to by Michael McDowell and I loved it just as much as the other two (The Elementals, Cold Moon Over Babylon). The author weaves a tapestry over 4 generations of the Caskey family, and makes you feel like you are a part of it. Although the reader knows pretty early on what the "horror" of the story is, the way it is told seems to blend the events into everyday life in Perdido. I couldn't stop listening - it was very hard to get out of the car and go into work or my house each day. I was sad when it ended, but the ending was done very well. Highly recommended!

I wasn't sure if I would like this new series, but Jeremy and Victor make a great team. Victor is filled with understandable rage over his wife's death and is seeking revenge. Jeremy is calm, rational, and experienced in dealing with the dead. Together they set out to stop the person responsible for unleashing these haunted and deadly objects. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book. As usual, I'm not a fan of Thom Bowers as narrator, but since he seems to be the choice for all Ron Ripley's books, I'm getting used to it. I don't think he does a bad job, but I don't feel like he captures emotions well.

I had trouble getting into this story at first. I wasn’t strongly drawn to the characters, except for Rex, but the action was pretty steady so I kept listening. It’s a good start to the new series and I will definitely keep going with it, but not one of my favorites. As always, I don’t really care for Thom Bowers’ narration style and that also factors in my rating.

Shane's tough, and he's been in some tight spots before, but the spirits at Lake Nutaq may be the worst he's faced yet. To make matters worse, he took off on this trip without telling anyone where he was going, so he's on his own out there! A new enemy is revealed, and Shane's strength will be tested to the breaking point. Frank is desperately trying to get there in time to help his fried, but will he be too late?

Another great book, and I love the extra bonus content at the end - it really gives more depth and details for some of the backstory. This series just keeps getting better!

I think this book in the series is the most horrific so far, and Borgin Keep is a chilling place! We find out what happens to members of The Watchers when they are no longer effective or needed, and it isn't pretty. Shane and Frank must once again do what they do best - battle the restless dead - but this time things are even more complicated by their living enemies. I was on edge a couple of times, wondering how things could possibly work out! We also see Shane sinking further into despair as his guilt and grief tear him apart. I'm worried what will happen to him...

Book 5 is the darkest story yet in the Berkley Street Series. Shane's new friend Frank, who he met at Sanford Hospital (book 4), asks him if he wants to come along on a job - essentially to just get out of the house and do some honest, manual labor. Things quickly get out of control when the demolition team opens the doors to Kurkow Prison and unleash a nightmare! Shane and Frank are back in the fray, risking their lives, fighting ghosts, and trying to keep people safe.

These two are a great team! I love the chemistry between Shane and Frank - both no nonsense ex-military men who get the job done. We see some changes in Shane's relationship with Courtney, too. Overall, this story is darker than previous ones in this series, and Shane faces a really tough decision. I am seriously hooked on this series, and I highly recommend all Ron Ripley's books! I can't wait to read and listen to the next one!

Book 4 in the Berkley Street Series continues the saga of Shane Ryan, a retired marine who can communicate with the dead. This time, Shane seeks treatment at a recently reopened VA hospital and finds that his fellow soldiers are dying in mysterious ways. There are vague rumors about a nurse who "helps" those who suffer find peace, but most everyone at the facility denies it. It's up to Shane to get to the bottom of this and help his friends.

Another great story that continues to build the complexity of Shane's character, and we learn more about his relationship with Courtney. There is an interesting new character named Frank who comes into Shane's life as well! Highly recommend this series and all Ron Ripley's books!

Another interesting and entertaining story featuring Shane Ryan, a retired marine who can communicate with the dead. This time, Shane and his girlfriend Courtney are out on a relaxing day trip to hike around the abandoned town of Griswold. But as so often happens, it's wrong place wrong time, and they get pulled in to the horrific events that unfold.

I really feel like this story gives Shane's character a little more depth, and it builds on the new relationship that started after his and Courtney's ordeal at the lighthouse. We also get to see more interaction with his house, which I think of as a main character because it's so fascinating! Highly recommend this series and all Ron Ripley's books!
