Very concise
Revisado: 01-13-25
The book is very concise, which makes sense, because there is still not much known about the events covered in the book. The narrative is easy to follow, as are the speculative parts, which are clearly delimitated from the known facts. Overall, it was an enjoyable listen.

For decades, Taiwan has been a thorn in the side of the Chinese government. An independent nation to the rest of the world, it is considered a rogue province by the PRC. Major feminist themes
Revisado: 12-11-24
All of the men, except Jack Ryan and the Chinese adversaries, were stereotypical tropes of military men - southern, tobacco chewing, hick speaking, indecisive, slow witted men who are so fortunate to have intelligent women like Katie Ryan, Mary Pat Foley, and the “Night Spider” around to bail them out. Why call it a Jack Ryan Novel, when he is only a peripheral figure in the story? Don’t get me wrong. I like well written, strong, smart female characters, but you don’t have to make the men around them into knuckle dragging idiots who are only good for advancing the story to the next amazing thing our heroine does.

Historia
Thumbing across the scorched West Texas desert, loner Jack Reacher has nowhere to go and all the time in the world to get there. Cruising the same stretch of two-lane blacktop is pretty Carmen Greer. But for Reacher, the lift comes with a hitch. Carmen's got a story to tell, and it's a wild one. All about her husband, her family secrets, and a hometown that's pure Gothic. She's also got a plan. Jack Reacher's part of it. And before the sun sets, this ride could cost them both their lives.

Least favorite Reacher book.
Revisado: 06-21-24
I’m on my second time through the whole canon of Reacher stories, and this one is my least favorite. It’s not that this is a bad story, but the first couple of chapters are full of ick. Once you get past that it’s a decent story, full of the action and detective work we all like, though. The narration by Sick Hill is amazing, as always. He’ll be sorely missed.

Missing Dick Hill
Revisado: 05-27-24
Dick Hill IS (was) Jack Reacher. Scott Brick does a great job. I’ve enjoyed his narration of the Tom Clancy books, but it’s clearly a different feel than what I was used to for the Jack Reacher series. Dick Hill will definitely be missed by all who listen to the Jack Reacher books, especially if you listen from the beginning.

Historia
As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee. But there’s nothing pleasant about the place. In broad daylight Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” . . . so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution. The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information . . . and secrets.

Learn the inside scoop on Watergate, the Ford Pardon, and the 18-minute Gap. Roger Stone, The New York Times best-selling author of The Man Who Killed Kennedy: The Case Against LBJ, gives the inside scoop on Nixon’s rise and fall in Watergate in his new book Nixon’s Secrets. Stone charts Nixon’s rise from election to Congress in 1946 to the White House in 1968 after his razor-thin loss to John Kennedy in 1960, his disastrous campaign for Governor of California in 1962, and the greatest comeback in American Presidential history.

I learned a lot that I never knew about President Nixon. The only critique is that the splices got choppy towards the end. That was distracting as the story was winding down.

Lots of splicing errors
Revisado: 04-04-24
Nearly every chapter had at least one sentence that was repeated. It made for distracting listening, but the story was great and the reader was very good. Overall, it would have been a solid 5 star book, if not for the splicing errors.

Historia
For 13 violent months in the 1930s, John Dillinger and his gang swept through the Midwest. The criminals of the Depression robbed almost at will, as the Indiana State Police had only 41 members, including clerks and typists. Dillinger's daring escapes at Crown Point jail or through the withering machine gun fire of FBI agents at Little Bohemia Lodge, along with his countless bank robberies, excited the imagination of a despondent country.

Great story, the narrator did a great job, and my only complaint is his pronunciation of coupe as coupé, which sounds ridiculous and is distracting. Other than the one complaint, I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Historia
It was a devastating triple punch. Capping their four-year campaign to destroy the Trump presidency, the media portrayed a Democratic victory as necessary and inevitable. Big Tech, wielding unprecedented powers, vaporized dissent and erased damning reports about the Biden family’s corruption. Rigged is the definitive account of the 2020 election. Based on Mollie Hemingway’s exclusive interviews with campaign officials, reporters, Supreme Court justices, and President Trump himself, it exposes the fraud and cynicism behind the Democrats’ historic power grab.

Great book, mediocre production
Revisado: 11-07-21
First, I have to say up front that I really enjoyed this book. The information is well sourced and laid out in an easy to follow manner.
That said, it looks like the “chapters” are broken up according to the narrator’s recording sessions instead of the actual book chapters. That made it more difficult to find where the listener is in the book. The app says “chapter 37, but the book says chapter 4. Some “chapters” are 5 minutes long, others are 16 or 25. This makes it hard to figure out if the listener is at the end of a paragraph, page or chapter. The overall product would have been much better with just a little bit of effort.

Historia
In an era when numerous modern media outlets rail about the guilt of their political enemies for speaking untruths, Postgate proves that the media can often credibly be viewed as the party actually guilty of deception. Americans today mistrust the major media more than ever. Postgate will prove that this distrust is richly deserved.

Wow...
Revisado: 01-29-21
I think this book sounded very credible, and brought out enough factual, sourced information to cast doubt on the “official narrative” about the Watergate scandal. Too bad this information was hidden for so long. It’s sickening, actually. Thanks to John O’Conner, we are armed with a more full picture of what happened, and how the WaPo was complicit in shaping the narrative to protect Democrats and frame Nixon.
