Historia
For generations, every Frankenstein has found their true love and equal, unlocking lifetimes of blissful wedded adventure. Clever, pretty (and odd) Angelika Frankenstein has run out of suitors and fears she may become the exception to this family rule. When assisting in her brother Victor’s ground-breaking experiment to bring a reassembled man back to life, she realizes that having an agreeable gentleman convalescing in the guest suite might be a chance to let a man get to know the real her. For the first time, Angelika embarks upon a project that is all her own.

Hated it
Revisado: 08-22-24
Plot holes, inconsistencies, bad characters, weird not thought out oversexualized stuff. For anyone who reads it - how did you like that the “bodies being sold at the morgue” thing was forgotten 2/3 of the way through? Lots of stuff built up to just disappear or become very uninteresting. I’m shocked this is the same author that penned THE HATING GAME. Love that book.

Historia
Research over the last few decades shows that many of us – sufferers of chronic pain and health practitioners alike – are victims of a trick of the nervous system. Where we believe that pain has its root in a damaged body, it is the brain that prolongs the hurting after the body has healed. Paul Biegler, a science journalist and former doctor who has been on his own pain journey, investigates the true source of chronic pain – our brain’s so-called neuroplasticity – and emerging therapies that take advantage of that neuroplasticity to rewire the brain and end the suffering.

Sadly had to return
Revisado: 08-01-23
I started seeing a pain management specialist after listening to the first 10 minutes of this book, but very shortly after I had to stop it and decided to return it as the detail of and reliance upon experimentation on animals is something I'm neither interested in hearing or trust the results of. Aside from the inherent cruelty, animal responses to drugs, treatment, and behavioral studies does not translate to successes and applicable science for the human body and millions if not billions of dollars are wasted on repetitive and curiosity-driven lab work that doesn't help people. I SO wish this book would have relied solely or simply more on human experiences and studies. I am grateful for the idea of seeing a pain management specialist.

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Fantastic
Revisado: 07-22-21
Wow. So glad I listened to the many glowing positive reviews, this is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time.. maybe ever. Such an adventure!
The only thing that didn’t gel for me was the romance, but as it wasn’t the main plot line I could deal with it. Loved the match.. just the circumstances seemed a little frivolously set up.
Please give this a listen!

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Can’t finish it
Revisado: 11-07-19
It’s just not very well written. Hung on for as long as I could, which wasn’t very long. Happy that an LGBTQ love story is in the mainstream but there’s just no buildup to the romance, the story is a bit confusing and the characters are uninteresting.

Fifteen-year-old Sam isn't special. He's not a famous vlogger, he's never gone viral and he doesn't want to be the Next Big Thing. What he likes most is chatting to his friends and having a bit of a kick about. None of which was a problem until Dad got rich and Mum made the whole family move to London. Now Sam is being made to go to the North London Academy for the Gifted and Talented, where every student is too busy planning Hollywood domination or starting alt-metal psychedelica crossover bands or making clothes out of bathmats to give someone as normal as him the time of day.

Just okay
Revisado: 10-18-19
The “Inbetweeners” likeness made me buy it but I was ultimately disappointed. It was pretty boring and inaccessible, meaning that the coming of age story seemed too much of a stretch and with no heart. I think I laughed once.
