Waste of time...
Revisado: 06-13-24
story made no sense, narrators were terrible (male narrator sounded constipated and female narrator sounded like the really annoying AI voice). ending was so abrupt, I didn't even realize what had happened. I had to reread the end.

Historia
Quinn Alexander has committed an unthinkable crime. To avoid spending her life in prison, Quinn makes a run for it. She leaves behind her home, her job, and her family. She grabs her passport and heads for the northern border before the police can discover what she's done. But when an unexpected snowstorm forces her off the road, Quinn must take refuge at the broken-down, isolated Baxter Motel. The handsome and kindly owner, Nick Baxter, is only too happy to offer her a cheap room for the night. Unfortunately, the Baxter Motel isn't the quiet safe haven it seemed to be.

Started off really strong but...
Revisado: 06-05-24
Ultimately went downhill. I was so excited in the beginning. So intrigued with the plot. But when the POVs changed halfway through the book, then the whole story stopped making sense. And eventually ended up just meh.

Narration was confusing.
Revisado: 05-11-24
Couldn't tell which character was speaking half the time and that made it way too confusing to follow along. Kinda ruined the whole vibe of the book.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Starts off a little slow...
Revisado: 04-11-24
Starts off a little slow with not much happenin. Plus there's too many characters that aren't really main characters or fully developed within the story so it's a lot to keep track of at certain points. The story really gets going in the second half of the book. and that's really when you get sucked in. Good mystery with a great plot twist near the end. Definitely did not see that coming.

Historia
Jane Austen fan Amelia Bennett sneaks away from a dull tour of an English country manor, only to run into a man more dashing than Mr. Darcy himself. About to lose his ancestral home to family debts, charming aristocrat Tom Calder invites his American guest to join him in drinking his way through the estate’s priceless wine collection. But when they wake in his bed the next morning, they’re convinced that in their drunken haze they witnessed a murder. Problem is, the body has vanished and no one believes them.

This was not it...
Revisado: 03-27-24
I had such high hopes going into this audiobook but this whole story and narration was just not it for me. The main characters had zero chemistry and majority of the story is just exposition and the same thing over and over again. I mean you can just skip the first 8 chapters and go from there because not a lot going on in the beginning. And even when things finally started happening, it was again back to the exposition. And the whole switching off the narrators back and forth between the two POVs doesn't help with keeping the focus in the story. And btw if you have a male and a female narrator why not use their voices for the actual characters. That just made no sense to me. I mean after a while, It became physically painful to continue on with this book. I only forced myself to finish this over 2 weeks because I don't like leaving things midway. But this was very much a disappointment unfortunately.
