Good clean romantic story

This tale was well written. No detailed sex scenes. It was a fun romance with adventure. Great narrator. I enjoyed it.

Too much catch up and not enough story and character development in my opinion. The male narrator was not my favorite.

Not a huge fan

The narration was pretty good but the story was trite. Been there, read that. Very long and drawn out details of the lives of the characters. There was one sex scene. It was PG. Didn't draw me in enough to order book 2.

Well written

I enjoyed this book. I was pulled into the lives of the characters and I’m interested to see what happens as I read the next in the series. The only critique I would have is that I sometimes had to go back and relisten because there was not enough pause in between scene changes. That’s one of the tricky parts about listening to a book versus reading it.

Slow and tedious

Nothing happening at all in this book until the end. Lots of getting to know you, back-and-forth dialogue, trying to be witty, etc.
One love scene at the end.

Good not great

The plot where her estate is going to be sold out from under her is a little difficult to believe. Couldn’t she just come forward with the Duke at her side and say she signed under duress? Then the drama at the end when the Duke is kidnapped seemed far-fetched. You can’t steal property at gunpoint from a Duke unless you kill all parties involved. Even then it would be contested and the thief has to account for all those dead bodies. Doesn’t seem plausible.
This book was advertised as having mature themes. There are absolutely no mature themes in this book except some very mild violence.

The heroine was smart, mature and competent. The hero was bold and strong but compassionate and honorable. The chemistry between the two was great. The intrigue and danger were believable. The dialogue was intelligent, not cheesy. The narration was good.

Hard to follow

I had trouble following this book. St changes abroad. Narrators voice didn’t change enough to know who was speaking at times. Not enough detail within the scene for the images to fully form in my imagination. 116 at the end. It was very brief and, after all the build up, unmoving.

Not quite up to par

The plot was decent. The dialogue and the Hero and heroine we’re a little juvenile to me. The dialogue seemed a little shallow. There was one sex scene at the end which was brief and not real steamy for those who want to keep it light. The danger to the heroine, Lucy, Was not real believable. There just weren’t enough details and character history to really develop the motive in my opinion. I thought having the evil stepsister and stepbrother in the same family was a little far-fetched. The narration was good and the accents well done. Personally I didn’t care for the cadence of the narration but that’s just me. If the story was better I might have enjoyed the narrator more.

Wonderful!

Benjamin and Lizzie were wonderful characters, mature and realistic. The narrator was amazing. At first the sing song style was concerning but that's just during the narration part. The dialogue was just right. Good balance. The story was engaging and the relationships well written. The sex scenes were detailed and well written and well placed. Not gratuitous.
