Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Great voice acting. Lackluster story
Revisado: 11-29-23
Narrators and audio production are excellent with minor exceptions.
However, the story is plagued with plot holes, characters do not carry the weight of their backstories. And the injection of modern day politics and pop culture in a story set hundreds of years in the future.
The premise is intriguing but the execution leaves much to be desired

Andrew Wiggin is told that he can no longer live on Earth, and he realizes that this is the truth. He has become far more than just a boy who won a game: he is the Savior of Earth, a hero, a military genius whose allegiance is sought by every nation of the newly shattered Earth Hegemony. He is offered the choice of living in isolation on Eros, at one of the Hegemony's training facilities, but instead the 12-year-old chooses to leave his home world and begin the long relativistic journey out to the colonies.

How far would you go for a more perfect world? A reimagining of the Greek myth of Eurydice and Orpheus, for fans of Naomi Alderman, Christina Dalcher and Madeline Miller. Set in a near-future where technology, governed by the all-seeing Panopticon, connects you with every other person on the planet – whether you’ve asked for it or not.

Disappointing
Revisado: 08-02-23
I would argue this is better listed as YA. That being said, the author has a habit of interrupting the story with info dumps and it makes it difficult to get invested.
The story is predictable.
The characters are fine, though their motives and backstories are over explained.
The narrators were fine

I am certainly older than the age range this was intended for. However, I found myself completely engaged and interested throughout because of Jack Black’s performance

I did not honestly think that I would be as entertained by a story that is essentially King of the Hill meets The Martian

Historia
The town of Northfall, Minnesota, will never be the same. Meteors cratered hardwood forests and annihilated homes, and among the wreckage a new metal was discovered. This “omnimetal” has properties that make it world-changing as an energy source…and a weapon. John Frontier returns for his sister’s wedding to find his family embroiled in a cutthroat war to control mineral rights and mining operations. His father rightly suspects foreign leaders and competing corporations of sabotage, but the greatest threat to his legacy might be the US government.

Revisado: 07-22-23
The premise is interesting. The side plots, relationship drama, and characters all felt mashed together without any cohesion. Bits of action thrown in to break up info dumps fell flat. It simply didn’t work for me.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Fun action in space. Rosario Dawson should narrate more often
Revisado: 07-22-23
No, this is not The Martian
The protagonist is intentionally less likable but has redeeming qualities. The story is entertaining and fast paced.
Weir brings his sarcastic tone and is sure to once again bring the science to “science fiction”
Rosario Dawson is a pleasure to listen to. Her accents aren’t convincing but after the first couple instances they weren’t distracting either

Historia
The dust may have just settled in the failed war of conquest between the Holy Vaalbaran Empire and the Ominirish Republic, but the last Emperor’s surrender means little to a lowly scribe like Enitan. All she wants is to quit her day job and expand her fledgling tea business. But when her lover is assassinated and her sibling is abducted by Imperial soldiers, Enitan abandons her idyllic plans and weaves her tea tray up through the heart of the Vaalbaran capital.

Inconsistent
Revisado: 07-18-23
Plot conveniences and contrivances, under developed characters, unexplained character motivations or changes in motivation, and the antagonist being nerfed inexplicably at the end actually causes major plot holes earlier.
Nothing in this book stands out as unique or innovative. Though I believe that this author could absolutely write something better in the future.

Before long, the implications are clear for the family and society: Get a Pilot or get left behind. With government subsidies and no downside, why would anyone refuse?

With Earth no longer habitable and the Mars colony slowly failing, they are humanity's best hope. After 10 years in a failed cryogenic bed - body asleep, mind awake - William Chanokh's torture comes to an end as the fog clears, the hatch opens, and his friend and fellow hacker, Tom, greets him...by stabbing a screwdriver into his heart. Expertly written rollercoaster
Revisado: 07-13-23
There are times in this book I would have struggled to rate it 3 stars and times where I was considering ignoring those parts and giving it 5 stars
It’s fun, different, weird, and also cliche and cringe inducing.
Be prepared to roll your eyes at parts but don’t let it discourage you from continuing. It’s worth the investment
