Stone is read in on the plan for a single planetary government and a world-wide cashless-currency, which will step in to fill the void left by the failing monetary system. Uneven Story & Heavily Biased Subtexts
Revisado: 05-05-25
story used every political left boogeyman that could be used. Just as bad as many secular books that make ALL Christians out to be half-crazed, your going to H*LL screaming maniacs. a better story would be subtle and show how folks on both sides of the spectrum would be lost while doing what they think is "right".

Highly Enjoyable Romp
Revisado: 10-31-24
This is the perfect fantasy book if your actually looking for fantasy and NOT a thinly valed romance novels...with magic! all of the characters are well formed and believable. the stroy transitions through multiple locations and encounters without feeling over wrought or rushed. I enjoyed all the character interactions and the level of intrigue as almost everyone has an ulteriulterior motive or a secret. Great read that leaves you wanting more!

Historia
I'm John Taylor. I was born in the Nightside, that square mile in the hidden center of London where it is always the hour of the wolf, where gods and monsters walk side by side, and where every dark question ever asked can be answered—for a price. I left for a while, but I did come back, to make my living doing what I do better than anyone else: finding things—lost or stolen, real or imaginary. Recently, I found the most dangerous thing of all: the true identity of my long-gone mother. Turns out she's a being who's been around since before the dawn of history.

Repetitive And Contrived
Revisado: 10-13-24
Thr world the author created is pretty interesting and the various characters are all intriguing but the reperepetitive nature of the "internal commentary" from book to book and chapter to chapter is a bit tiresome. I'm almost left feeling like these are filler lines to draw out the word count. Especially when the internal commentary (in many cases) is followed up by the same information being shared externally with the other characters. This is fine when what the main (focal) character is thinking one thing but saying another, but these stories more often than not repeats the exact same dialogue both internally and externally. Last annoyance is the main character reprepeatedly saying they will do what ever it takes to prevent the problem while doing exactly the stuff that creates the problem. Too bad because I really like the world and most of the characters.

Great Story With Excellent Narration
Revisado: 03-23-24
this is a great story that achieves the goal of asking probing questions about where we came from, what is the purpose of life, what is it to be human and the struggle for each of us to be the best version of ourselves without the self sabotage.

the Narration Isn't Bad...It's Intentional
Revisado: 03-16-24
at first I thought the narration by the female lead was a subpar effort but then it hit me that it was intentional. the thing that made it click was how bad the writing also seemed for the Amety character. It read like a book report by a middle school kid who vacilated between being age appropriate to sounding like they used a thesaurus to find $10 words when $1 words will do. I stopped listening three times because her part was just so over-wrought and verbose like a kid trying to hit the mandated word count...and that's when it all clicked because that was exactly the point! the book became less infuriating at that point and more appreciative of teachers who have to listen through 20 book reports that sound just like this.
This was a solid story with the exception of the leads narrating how they know what not to do because of their love of reading as they are doing the thing they say not to do! That was more maddening then ironic to me but another solid offering from Mr. Koontz!
Any chance this could ve tied into the Moonlight Bay series?

Historia
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

Akin To Being On A Date You Can't Wait To End
Revisado: 08-31-23
I struggled to make it through this book. it wasn't that the concept was difficult or the premise so deep that I couldn't plum ots depths. I just didn't like any of the characters and found myself continuously asking myself why am I listening to this. I'm not a romance novel reader and most every character was the worst variant of the archetype they are modeled on. I eventually just had to Tapout and move on to a different book.
