Great and entertaining stuff
Revisado: 11-06-24
I love this series. It’s entertaining. I enjoy the loopholes that are exploited for every victory. And I don’t care at all that the MC loses to win. It’s all good. Part of the fun of the series.

Great book!
Revisado: 04-06-24
I love this series. I always return to it when I grow bored with the more typical litRPG OP-tyrannical MCs. Lin’s characters are well developed and interesting. I enjoy their travels quite a bit. Always looking forward to the next book.

Historia
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Lost me at the pedophilia
Revisado: 02-11-24
Thought this was mostly a decent book (for about 5 chapters)…it lost me with the MC gratuitous sex with a 15 year old girl as a grown man. And that junk was thrown in there like it is something to be admired. This book seems to ask: What’s a little sex trafficking of young girls among immoral and absolutely terrible men? And the answer of most reviewers, it would seem, is: “nothing at all. This is a great book.”Well? Good on them. I’m sure this book and the whole series will be entertaining repugnant.
Not my answer tho. If casual sex trafficking of girls concerns you, maybe skip this title.
I had to put it down when I realized I was already rooting for the goblins (the so called bad guys?) and I hoped the MC died a miserable death…seeing that the continuation of the series makes that dream unlikely…I was done at chapter 5. Not my cup of tea.

Historia
In Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments, Saidiya Hartman examines the revolution of black intimate life that unfolded in Philadelphia and New York at the beginning of the 20th century. Free love, common-law and transient marriages, queer relations, and single motherhood were among the sweeping changes that altered the character of everyday life and challenged traditional Victorian beliefs about courtship, love, and marriage.

Love this series
Revisado: 06-04-23
I enjoyed this entry. It’s a story about a game that manages to capture how involved we can get trying to win, how serious winning can be when one is competitive, how things can escalate…quick, and how competitive gaming and enjoyment gaming can come together when one is insistent on getting good for whatever reason. So, overarching story? There are whiffs of something like that here and there, I suppose. But, yeah, it seems to mostly to be a story about a dude playing a game. A game where the main character lives in it (for now), mind you. A game that clearly links up to some people’s real life livelihoods (like streamers) or Ned’s ability to spend millions of dollars for a head start…but it’s a game…with game-like episodes. I just love it.
I don’t, however, like House. May just be me, but she is becoming more and more unsympathetic. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t well developed. She’s a computer. I get why she would be more than weird and maybe distinctly inhuman. I dislike her. The weird threats over comments about about cats? Words? Maybe I’m not just a cat person? But I’m hoping someone unplugs her. Cause she is turning into a character I don’t want to encounter on the page.
I love this series tho. And I’ll keep reading no matter how unpleasant House becomes.

Historia
As a martial arts instructor, Nori has always had a simple purpose in life: Help underprivileged kids build confidence and self-discipline. Now she'll have to do so for everyone else, too. It all started with a mist, one that gave everyone stats and levels, but also disabled technology and transformed animals and humans into cybernetic horrors that preyed on the living. Within months of its inception, civilization had crumbled.

Solid
Revisado: 05-20-23
I liked this trilogy. It’s hard to describe. Not too light hearted because of the subject matter, but I laughed aloud at many points.
The characters do come very close to being stereotypical and repetitive, but they surprised me at points. That was nice. I could have wished for more surprises, but I found some of the character consistency was what made the story easy listening.
I do think the only character that didn’t show enough growth for me was Lana. And she didn’t grow in areas that can be annoying for the story’s content. Though I wonder if that’s just the voice actor. I hated her voice. So whiny. I understand the choice, it just wasn’t easy to listen to.
But I read a lot of LitRPG and this story had a lot of what I like in a story. Progression system that I could, generally, follow. Missions that made sense. A key tension that organizes events. And enjoyable dialogue (even the repetitive nature of it became part of the experience). And the final villain’s backstory was developed throughout the books and attached to a grand mission that could continue. Good story.
There is definitely more here. And I would read on if the series continues. But as it stands, thank you!
