Historia
The most popular and beloved American historical novel ever written, Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind is unparalleled in its portrayal of men and women at once larger than life but as real as ourselves. Now best-selling writer Alexandra Ripley brings us back to Tara and reintroduces us to the characters we remember so well: Rhett, Ashley, Mammy, Suellen, Aunt Pittypat, and, of course, Scarlett.

I liked it, but wanted way more Rhett and Scarlett
Revisado: 10-29-24
SPOILER ALERT
All and all, it was a decent book. I have to say that I felt the ending was very rushed and a bit sloppy. Attention to details was almost too much in a lot of the book. And then it seemed like when it came to the moment we were all waiting for - it was rushed and lacked the details that I wanted.
Example: Rhett it sloppy drunk in Dublin and is mean to Scarlett because he finds out about her engagement, After this encounter with a sloppy drunk Rhett- she rushes home hours away and when she gets there, a perfectly normal and sober Rhett is waiting for her. That does not make sense. Then it was almost like she was trying to re-create the intensity of the burning of Atlanta.
I just feel like I wanted a redo of the ending. After investing that amount of time, I wanted at least 2 hours of their reunion, not a mere 40 minutes including escaping a riot. I was disappointed with the rushed end.

Great historical love story
Revisado: 10-23-24
Though I am so glad that brutal aspects of the south were destroyed- I very much so enjoyed visualizing a world that had to change. Of course- the love triangle of epic proportions was engrossing.

A mustard seed is a reference to JESUS
Revisado: 09-03-24
A mustard seed of faith refers to believing in the abundant grace of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. There is peace and comfort in KNOWING that it is not our own personal works- as each and everyone of us will sin daily- but it is dependent on the sacrifice of the most perfect lamb of GOD that washes each and everything one of those sins away. Belief in Jesus leads to eternal salvation and security. Dependence on your own ability to continually “do good” will only lead to failure: none of us can be perfect.
To the author- if you are going to continually quote the Gospel- don’t you think you should believe the Gospel? I pray one day you do. That is a mustard seed of faith.

Historia
It's 1894. Jordan Wallace and Sadie Wagner appear to have little in common. Jordan, a middle-aged black teacher, lives in segregated Chicago. Two thousand miles away, Sadie, the white wife of an ambitious German businessman, lives in more tolerant Oakland, California. But years ago, their families intertwined on a plantation in Virginia. There, Jordan's and Sadie's mothers developed a bond stronger than blood, despite the fact that one was enslaved and the other was the privileged daughter of the plantation’s owner.

Historia
Born on a plantation in Charles City, Virginia, Pheby Delores Brown has lived a relatively sheltered life. Shielded by her mother’s position as the estate’s medicine woman and cherished by the Master’s sister, she is set apart from the others on the plantation, belonging to neither world. She’d been promised freedom on her eighteenth birthday, but instead of the idyllic life she imagined with her true love, Essex Henry, Pheby is forced to leave the only home she has ever known. She unexpectedly finds herself thrust into the bowels of slavery at the infamous Devil’s Half Acre.

Excellent and informative
Revisado: 08-19-24
This was a gripping book that was difficult at times due to the obvious depravity of morals in many of the characters depicted. I had a hard time putting it down and binge listened to it. Highly recommended.

It was okay- but not great
Revisado: 05-31-24
I can see why Oprah liked it. She gushes over Oprah like a swiftie at a concert. I appreciate her trek through life, but completely disagree that she was so unfairly treated. She did hard drugs and stole while caring for her small child. She put her child in great danger. She abused relationships. She committed adultery and was “unfairly” targeted by the cheated on wife. I’m sorry- you reap what you sow. It was redeeming that she changed her life. I can sink my mind into that: but all the “unfair” platitudes were simply that. Also demonstrated to me that regardless of your race or ethnicity- life after committing a crime is difficult. This blonde hair, blue eyed female proved that.

So disappointing after the German’s wife
Revisado: 03-13-24
I didn’t really like the characters from the beginning. But this book is basically a champion for utilizing abortion as birth control. I’m sorry- but someone who suffers from postpartum depression will most likely also be very depressed after they decide to rip their baby from their womb. There are statistically more women that suffer from depression after abortion than after birth. That is just a fact. I thought I had found a new author that I would love after the German wife. Now- I will make sure I never suffer her thought process again. It is obviously pretty twisted. Yeah- a fulfilling life is living for yourself, going to jazz clubs, making money and being able to remove babies from your womb. I will surely raise my daughter to know that living life for your own pleasure is empty and depressing. Loving others- now - that’s the good stuff.

Historia
New York, 1898. The only thing more shocking than Arthur Stanhope III’s unexpected death is the revelation that his will bestows his company—and most of the vast fortune that goes with it—to the nearest male heir, leaving his mother, wife, and daughter nearly impoverished. His widow, Sylvia, quickly realizes she must set aside her grief to ensure their daughter, Adelaide, is launched into society as soon as the appropriate mourning period passes.
