Historia
The school year is almost over. Anxious families await word of college acceptances. In these last pressure-cooker months of high school, some kids will make the all-too-common and all-too-dangerous mistake of drinking and driving. But Myron is determined to help keep his friends' children safe, so he makes two neighborhood girls promise him: If they are ever in a bind but are afraid to call their parents, they must call him.

Good story ruined by poor narration
Revisado: 10-21-18
Myron Bolitar is back and that's good. The story is interesting with lots of shady characters, but the narration made this book hard to listen to. It's not just that it's a different narrator than the prior books it's that the narration style did not match at all the pacing and timing of the book. Frankly, it was difficult to listen to.

Historia
Ann Silver is a cop’s cop. As the Midwest Homicide Investigator, she is called in to help local law enforcement on the worst of cases, looking for answers to murder. Hers is one of the region’s most trusted investigative positions. Paul Falcon is the FBI’s top murder cop in the Midwest. If the victim carried a federal badge or had a security clearance, odds are good Paul and his team see the case file or work the murder. Their lives intersect when Ann arrives to pass a case off her desk and onto his.

Rather predictable
Revisado: 08-27-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This book really didn't stand out at all in its genre. I'm not one of those people who try to figure out the story from the opening chapter. I like to listen (or read) and let the story unfold. That being said, this story line was rather predictable and frankly not all that well put together. I was disappointed based on the premise. I also felt that the introduction of religion into the story was rather contrived and didn't add value. .
What could Dee Henderson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The ending was especially anti-climactic. It was clear for hours in advance where the story was going and I just hoped that it would make the journey there exciting. But to me the ending was a big fizzle.

Proof that a narrator can make or break a book...
Revisado: 03-25-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is an interesting story, if a little predictable. If you enjoy this genre then you will likely enjoy this read as well.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Character development was a little weak beyond the main character but the story here is in the mystery not the characters themselves. The role of the Deputy US Marshall could have been developed to a much greater extent and added considerably to the book.
How could the performance have been better?
The performance was by far the weakest part of the book. Too many of the male characters sounded weak and even effeminate and the best friend character, supposedly a hot young thing sounds like she is dying of emphysema. I found the narration grating at times and detracted from the story itself.
