Historia
Larry King is a true-blue baseball fanatic. Going to his first game as a kid in 1940s New York was the start of a lifelong love affair. This heartfelt valentine to America's game evokes a simpler time in our country's history: complete with the smells of popcorn, beer, and hot dogs; the sight of the green, closely-mowed infield; the dark brown dirt paths; the crisp white uniforms; the sound of the excited voices of announcers; the crack of the bat; and the roar of the crowd.

It's a grand old game
Revisado: 08-03-04
As a lifelong baseball fan, I found this work enjoyable. As another reviewer stated, there is alot of reading of others views, quotes, and observations but that's ok. This book will help the casual fan see the sport differently (not as dramatically as moneyball) and perhaps see the passion in the grand old game that some of us have. Baseball is not thought of as an exciting sport with today's MTV generation, but they're missing something. Do you miss baseball? Then this book will reintroduce you to a truely unique sport.

Over the last two decades, Tim Russert has become one of the most trusted and admired figures in American television journalism. Throughout his career he has spent time with presidents and popes, world leaders and newsmakers, celebrities and sports heroes, but one person stands out from the rest in terms of his strength of character, modest grace, and simple decency: Russert's dad, Big Russ.

Words to live by
Revisado: 06-18-04
Tim Russert does an excellent job of explaining that his own successes are simply a byproduct of how he was raised. Most importantly, he is successful in life because of what he has learned from the principaled adult influences in his life. As a father myself, I take away a guideline that I can teach to my son (and daughter too) to live by as well.

Historia
Fun While It Lasted is the story of Bruce McNall's life as a player. McNall started in the ancient coin business. Soon, he branched out into horse racing, movies, and major league sports as owner of the L.A. Kings hockey team. Ultimately his empire collapsed amid charges of fraud and deception, and he was sent to prison for admittedly bilking banks out of more than $200 million. Here is the tale of how he played fast and loose in Hollywood.

Yeah...but
Revisado: 01-13-04
I have always been intriged by Mr. McNall and actually met him back in the early nineties. ENOUGH brushes with fame. Anyway, it is an eenteraianing story of the building of a house of cards and it's quick collaspe. Bruce is a smart guy, and has a great mind, now he needs to make it all over again....the right way!

No offense....but with a 6 hour car trip I was counting on this recording to keep my 5.5 and 2.5 year olds occupied. It worked. They were very entertained and enjoyed the narrative stories and song! Besides what 5.5 year old boy DOESN'T love a little gross out humor.

Broaden the examples
Revisado: 08-23-03
I did find the book enjoyable, but it seemed that the author kept reciting (what seemed to be) the same three examples over and over again. More varied examples and uses of different firms would have kept my attention better.

Seth strikes again. Like all of his previous efforts (business) Seth has an uncanny ability to look at business in an all new fresh way. I'm in sales, and get as much out of Seth's contributions as any traditional "Sales & Marketing" book.

Historia
Moneyball is a quest for something that money can't buy: the secret of success in baseball. The real jackpot is a cache of numbers collected by a brotherhood of baseball enthusiasts: software engineers, statisticians, Wall Street analysts, and physics professors. These numbers prove that the traditional measure of success for players and teams are fatally flawed. This information has been around for years, and nobody paid it any mind. And then came Billy Beane, General Manager of the Oakland A's.

Moneyball is worth the money
Revisado: 06-16-03
Michael Lewis states the following. "I wrote this book because I fell in love with a story." Well, I'm writing this review because I am in love with baseball. Even if you are not a fanatic like myself, you too will like this book. This book has excellent insight on what has been going on in baseball over the last couple years. It shows you that baseball today isn't about whom has the biggest check book, but who is smarter with their money. Plus, you'll me able to impress your friends with your knowledge of OPS.
